Visa for mother in law - who should send the invitation

Hi all,

My wife is in Canada on a visitor visa . We have a sponsorship application that is in progress since Dec 2023 (medical completed at the start of June 2024). My wife is pregnant now and we are expecting a baby in the new year. We would like for my mother in law to witness the birth of our child. We initially thought we would apply for a super visa but we are worried it will be too late when my wife has her PR. Additionally, my mother in law would only be staying for a couple of months and it seems that the super visa takes longer. So then we decide she should apply for a TRV as soon as possible. So I have some questions:
1. Is it ok for my mother in law to apply for a TRV while my wife status is still a visitor?
2. If we do apply, should the invitation letter come from me (Canadian citizen) or my wife (who is on a TRV)?
3. Should I mention the birth since my wife is only on a TRV?
4. For proof of relationship, do I provide proof of my MIL relationship to my wife or to me? How do I show relationship to me? Can I show my wife's birth certificate + our marriage certificate?
5. Is TRV generally faster than super visa? Is super visa more likely to be accepted? Do you guys recommend to wait and apply for super visa? If so, at what point in my wife's PR application can the super visa application be submitted (pre-arrival email, p1, p2 or after e-COPR)?

Thank you

1. Yes
2. You. Wife is visitor.
3. Don’t mention birth.
4. Show Birth and marriage certificates
5. She is not eligible for a supervisa if wife is not PR.
