Respected Members,
i am new to this forum, i want urgent suggestion regarding health issues of my father. He is having treatment here but i am not satisfied with his treatment.

- He is Diabetic and on Dialysis (twice a week)
- His hand got infected with wrong Dialysis and we had to go through surgery
- He is having Pain in his legs so much that he barely can stand without

I have my brother in Law in Canada can he apply for any Medical Visa or is there any Medical Visa ? and if not is there any possibility he can ask for Super visa and we can have him treated there. BEfore asking my Brother in Law i just want to make sure i provide him with details if he doesn't know already.

Thanks and looking for the feedback

There is no such thing as a medical visa. He would apply for a regular visitor visa or a super visa. Your brother in law cannot apply for the super visa. The application has to be submitted by your father's child (presumably your sister?).

Note that he will not qualify for provincial health care coverage as a visitor - this means that all costs related to his care will have to be paid by your family. Paying for your own medical care in Canada is expensive - I would make sure you have at least $25K set aside to cover these costs. Expect the costs to be much higher if any surgery is required. Since this this a pre-existing condition, private insurance will not cover these costs.

Do you have at least $25K available? That would be the key question.

Sorry - one correction. Forget about the super visa - he won't pass the medical. A regular visitor visa is your only option.

1. Actually you can apply for a visitor visa for medical treatment, but you have to be able to meet the criteria here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/exam/tr.asp
2. So his relatives in Canada are going to have to find a Doctor to determine that his treatment is necessary in Canada, and the family is going to have to demonstrate at minimum of $60K the estimated yearly cost of of dialysis according to the Kidney foundation of Canada. There is only one dialysis company in Ontario that accepts out of country/Ontario patients, the cost is $575.00 per 4 hour session. Toronto Dialysis Units for Travellers

Thank you so very much for the information @scylla and @PMM

@scylla - Thanks for the output and appreciated for your response, Yes we can arrange $25K-30K. i just wanted to know the criteria as @PMM mentioned there is criteria to meet. i will call to Kidney center in Ontario and consult the doctors there.

@PMM- Thanks again for the huge information. so in order to continue with this my brother in law has to confirm with Ontario based Kideny Center and once they give approval then only we have better chance for approval of Visitor Visa?

Thanks again. Really appreciated.

GOD Bless

PMM is right - I'm wrong. $25K to $30K won't be enough. You need to follow the process PMM has outlined. Also - understand that the $60K isn't just money your family needs to show - this is money that will be fully spent (if not more) providing the care your father needs.
