Hi,
I’ve got a bachelors degree in architecture and urban planning, and a master’s in climate change adaptation, both from the UK.

I’d like to apply for a second Masters programme in Urban Planning in Canada as I need an accredited degree to be more competitive in the job market. I only did the First Masters to get better grades and improve my chances of getting into a top university because my undergraduate degree classification was unsatisfactory for an accredited degree in planning.

I was told that my chances of getting a visa is 50/50 for a second master’s degree even if I’ve secured a place and paid my initial deposit.

Could someone please let me know if it would still be a good idea to go through with applications? If it is possible to get a study permit in my case? If you know of someone that has gotten a visa under these circumstances? If so how do I convince immigration to give me a permit?

Thanks in advance

Someone I know has gotten visa for second Master's program. Applicant was Bangladeshi. But when the person landed in Canada, changed uni to college to Diploma program. Sounds Silly? Yes Absolutely!

If you are a genuine student and have genuine interest in research, write a very good study plan. Chances are 50-50. You never know.

I have an M.Sc. degree and have been accepted at the U of Manitoba in an M.Sc. program in the same major. In science, it is known that most PhD prgrams start with an M.Sc. enen if you have one before. My say, go for it.
Good luck

Hi, how is it going with your study permit application for your second Msc degree? I'm about to apply for my own study permit for my second Msc. I got my Bsc in Soil science and Meteorology back in Nigeria and Msc in Climate change in South Korea and I wish to apply for a one year Msc in Sustainable Environmental management in University of Saskatchewan Canada.

I have a Msc in information technology degree and going to apply for the same course for jan-2019. Few consultants I met said that there may be no issues with second master given that I have 1 year of genuine experience

I have completed my bachelor degree in CSE in 2008 and masters in CS in 2018 Sept. I have 10 years working experience as a software developer. I already have applied to Quebec PNP program. Since Quebec takes long time to process and not sure when they are going to draw so I decided to apply master program in computer science in University of Manitoba for Jan session in 2020. Has any chance to get visa rejected after reviewing my above scenarios if I get admission in any of the Canadian university for my master program?
