When my husband applies for his visa extension (still waiting on PR) can he use the UCI on the application from PR?

Is it his UCI or yours as sponsor? If it is his UCI, then yes, he can use that on his visa extension application.

Yes he can. Everyone is assigned one UCI for their entire dealings with the CIC.

For my PR and my visitor extension applications I use the same UCI I got from 2011 when I participated in the IEC program.

I guess, actually, it's my UCI as his sponsor. Which means he wouldn't be able to use that number, right?

He has to use his UCI. The sponsor and the applicant will have their own UCI.

Correct. If you call the CIC help line and give them your UCI number they should give you his UCI number over the phone. If they won't, just mention the PR application file number in a covering letter for the visa extension application and the VO processing the visa extension application will figure it out from there.

THANKS. I got his UCI #.

One more question: As he is waiting for PR, how should he fill in the question "funds available for my stay"... since his length of stay is going to be 'permanent' (hopefully at some point). ??

His length of stay as a visitor, which is what this app is all about, is not going to be permanent. The fact that he has applied for PR does not change that in any way.

Put the amount of funds available for the length of stay as a VISITOR that he is requesting.

If this is his extension, then you should be able to get his UCI# from his visa page in passport. Below the Person(s) label.

You should print out bank statement which shows you have enough money for living. I think visa officer will be happy to see you have stable salary coming into your bank account every month.

Good luck

Question: On the application form it asks how long he is going to stay... Since we are hoping for a one year extension, can we put in 1 year? (Actually, of course, we are hoping he'll have his PR before that ... but you know how it is).

Also, if I include a letter explaining that we are only applying for this extension because we are waiting for inland PR processing approval - is that a good idea? What all did you include in your apps besides what they ask for?

I have included financial proof and everything that they ask for - just sort of stuck on these 2 points.

Yes, it's fine to ask for a year. My wife requested a year and it was granted.

Also, if I include a letter explaining that we are only applying for this extension because we are waiting for inland PR processing approval - is that a good idea? What all did you include in your apps besides what they ask for?
Yes, tell them you are requesting the extension because his PR application is still in progress and he wishes to continue to visit with you while his application is being considered.

I think you've covered all the issues that CIC is concerned with. The only other thing we included was a copy of my wife's return airline ticket as proof that she was willing to leave the country if the extension was not granted. If you have that, you can include it as well. Good luck.

Yes, put one year down.

Yes, explain that he has a spousal PR app in process.
