I am applying for my wife's visa extension online. It requires the proof of medical exam. But I have already sent out the proof of medical exam with her PR application 2 months ago and I did not keep a copy of it. So here are my questions, please help~

1. What should I do? I have the payment receipt and Sponsorship Approval letter with me. Can I attach the receipt and SA letter and explain why I do not have a medical proof? Or I have to have my wife to do another medical test?

2. We are living in Vancouver, so we are close to the border. Can we do the flag-poling thing for her visa extension instead of applying online?

Thank you guys and please help!!

yes, that seems to be the only thing you can do at this point. do NOT have your wife do another medical, that will just screw up your application. explain it was submitted with the application, if you can sign into ECAS, and it shows medicals as received, take a screenshot and include it.

no, you can't flagpole for a visitor's extension. this is for landing as a PR. It is my understanding you can not apply for an extension at the border, it must be submitted by email or mail. I have read one applicant has received their extension at the border, however, they had already sent in the application, so they just approved it upon her entry. there is certainly NO guarantee every border agent would do this. If you show up at the border, they will treat her entry as a new entry, not an extension of her last one.

Thank you for the quick reply. But the sad thing is her online status does not show medical received, only shows application received... How can I prove that we already have the medical done? I was too careless to keep a copy of the original proof...

can you call the doctor's office where it was completed and see if they can print off another copy?

I had the same scenario. I just called the Doctor who did my exam and they emailed the copy that day. You'll still be on file.

Your easiest option is to do the paper application. No proof of medical required. See here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/visitor.asp

It does not depend on Online or Paper application. You can find out if you need a medical exam by referring this link

I believe that link refers to the necessity for obtaining a medical if you are seeking a temporary resident visa longer than 6 months.

My wife is South Korean and got a one year visitor's visa extension without proof of medical. According to that chart, she should have submitted one.

ok, There are always exceptions with CIC. But submitting the medicals is the Rule. If we want to be safe, we will follow the rule.
If you use the online tool to find out if you can extend your stay in canada, irrespective of whether you take the paper route or online application, it will give you the below supporting docs

proof of financial support
proof of medicals
copy of travel doc
photo
and of course the relevant forms.

But its not true that the paper application does not require medicals.

Sorry, but you're incorrect. I also tried submitting my wife's extension application online and saw the same thing. So I called CIC and told them I didn't have proof of my wife's medical because it had been submitted with her PR application and I hadn't retained a copy. They specifically told me that if you were just seeking to extend an existing visitor's visa, as the OP is, you didn't need it.

The problem seems to be that the same forms you use to extend an existing visitor's visa are also used to obtain other types of temporary residence visas, some of which will require the medical, so it's on the checklist, but inapplicable in the OP's circumstances. It's not a necessary document for extending an existing visitor's visa.

In addition, the original medical that was done when the OP's wife submitted her PR application will be in the system and visible to the VO when they consider her extension application, so, if they are concerned about it, they will see she has already done it there.

But its not true that the paper application does not require medicals.
Take a look at the document checklist I linked to. It's not required.

You are saying that you saw the same thing. you also said that your wife has done medicals as part of PR and VO can look it up.
all that you said points towards having medicals done. how can you advise someone that medicals is not required for paper application.
Anyways the OP has done the medicals. So he is going to be fine. anyone else reading the thread should not be misled.

everyone is here to get the best possible info. completely ruling out certain documents just because the link you shared does not have it is not the right way. if you see my first response I said see this link and find out if you need medicals for anyone who is looking to apply extension and wish to stay for beyond 6 months.

let each person use their discretion to decide whether they want to do the medicals or not if they have not already done. whether they want to submit the proof or not.
don't use blanket statements like paper application does not require medicals. how is it even possible that online app will require and paper would not.

my idea was to share more info ..what I knew. why do you find the need to start a debate here. you told what you knew. And so did I.
I did not even reply to ur original post. Don't think what u say is the beginning and end of it. others reading the forum will add to it with their knowledge. that's why we all are here to share info. not to win an argument.
