Hi Forum,

Spouse's Passport got Visa Entry Stamped in July 2010 ( PAKISTAN PASSPORT )

Visa Expiry date is for July 2011.

My question is, does my spouse have a window period till July 2011 for first time entry? Or is the window

period for entry smaller, meaning does spouse have to enter within 3 months or 6 months, regardless of

Visa expiration date?

Kindly help clarify.

The visa should be valid until the expiration date.

visa expires one month before the stated date of expiry.

Why would it expire a month before the expire date? Seems counterintuitive.

Hi Guys,

Need more advice,

Is there a window period in which the sponsored person has to enter into Canada from the date their passport got the visa entry stamp?

VISA Expiry date on Passport = July 2011,

VISA ENTRY ( PASSPORT ) stamped in Aug 2010.

TNX

They would have until July 2011 to enter and land in Canada.

No it doesn't. It expires on the date of expiry.

this is what i was referring too..

A multiple-entry visa allows you to enter Canada several times during the period while your visa is valid. A multiple-entry visa is valid for a maximum of five years or one month prior to the expiry date on the passport/re-entry visa, whichever is earlier.

If a multiple-entry visa is approved, it will allow you to enter and leave Canada repeatedly during the validity period of the visa. You must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date on your visa. You cannot get a multiple-entry visa for a period that ends after the expiry date of your passport. If your passport will expire soon, you should renew it before you apply for your visa.

So paragraph 1 andf 2 is conflicting. If your visa is valid one month prior to the expiry date of a re-entry visa..that is to say...your renewal...then how can you travel on it to canada?

A PR visa is a single entry visa, allowing just one entry for landing. Then you don't need a visa because you are a PR.

But can you come into Canada after getting your visa and visit if you aren't ready to land yet?

It would depend on if you are from a visa exempt country or not. If you are visa exempt, you can usually waive landing the first time you re-enter Canada after the PR visa has been issued. If you are from a country that requires a visa, you would probably only be able to waive landing if you already have a valid TRV as a visitor, worker, etc.

Landing is a procedure that takes about 15 to 30 minutes with an immigration officer at a port of entry (not including the wait time in a line up). Most people will just get the landing procedure overwith the first time they enter/re-enter Canada.

This is the exact information StillSmilin and myself have been looking for. I am flying to Canada to spend Christmas but I am not ready to do the "landing process" as I still have to pack up all of our belongings and in order to have the customs duty waived on everything I own, I have to have a certain form completed listing all of my belongings and values that are being shipped to Canada and arriving after I arrive. This form has to be given to the Customs officer when I "land". Not ready for that yet.

Dear friend,
I think you need to double check on the date because it doesn't make any sense that the visa was stamped on July and your wife have untill July 2011. Normaly, CIC will give you one year from the date of your medical. Please double check and let us know.
Cheers,
