Hello,

I would like to know if my mother is eligable for a candain visa or not.

Two years ago, she was in the U.S and stayed there for 6 months, after she left the American border to do a re entry, they denied her the entry and her american visa got cancelled, and she was denied the renewal for few years to go (Reason I believe to be overstaying even though she didn't stay a single day more than immigration law 6 months). I want to know if the Canadian visa is linked to the U.S visa or not? May she still apply and get the Canadian visa if she meet all the requirements? and have all the needed paperwork? To note, she wants a tourism visa (visitor).

Thanks,

She would need to declare the refusal in her application. It would certainly have an effect on her application having been denied entry and her visa cancelled. Remember that all immigration information in Canada and the US is shared, so IRCC has access to her US file.
