Visa documents misplaced

Hi friends, one of my friend misplaced his documents which were sent with his passport by CHC. Does he need them? He is very worried now. What happens at the port of entry will they ask those documents? Please help. I think I need to keep mine in the locker poor fellow he was moving house.

The documents you need to enter Canada

The CBSA officer will ask to see your travel documents when you arrive in Canada. Make sure they are not packed in your luggage, and that you have them with you. This will help speed up your entry to Canada.

You should be ready to show the following documents:

• a valid passport or travel document
• the letter of introduction from the visa office that you received when your study permit was approved (this letter contains your permit reference number and the CBSA officer needs this letter to issue your study permit)
• a valid temporary resident visa (if required)
• a copy of the letter of acceptance from the school at which you are permitted to study
• proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada and
• letters of reference or any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied.

He should contact the local CHC as soon as possible.

Hi,

Send one FAX to CHC Delhi/Chandigarh and,

1. Explain situation in short,
2. Quote passport number, file number (it's ok if file number is not available), date of birth, name, CHAA/ number and address.

They are very prompt in handling FAX; based on my personal experience.

They are very prompt in handling FAX; based on my personal experience.

+1 to the fax part.

Most of the people have given feedback about how they don't answer the calls or emails (although your friend's case is not a general query about status of the application so they might answer that as well).

enfield has tried the fax method so its tried and tested one.

Enfield & Royalsting you both are legends +1 for each. My friend has sent fax today to CHC Delhi Will they issue him copy of Letter of Introduction? What happens if he only travels with visa on his passport? Will he be sent back or his study permit not granted at port of entry? Help!

They should re-issue it, although I tried to do some search but couldn't find any similar case so far. As it is one of the required document at the port of entry as per the checklist by CIC. It is likely that he might not be issued a study permit.

Just a word of caution to many still pursuing their visas-

Always and always leave the introduction letter the way its attached and folded in your passport-Let the immigration officials remove it themselves

A word of caution to everyone who are granted visa. That letter is as important as your passport & visa, my friend got a reply from CHC Delhi that his request has been forwarded to the concerned visa officer but he had to rely yet. Let's say that he hasn't got his visa yet, silly fool. I hope he gets that letter in time.
