I have applied for an IEC visa, my application has been accepted and saw the first draw was yesterday (16th) and have not heard anything. But it also said that in order to apply for a work permit I need to be invited. I have written confirmation I have a job in Canada already for this year and they want me to head out for March. Can I apply for the work permit now or do I still have to be invited? As I only have a few months I need to get the ball rolling! Any advice would be appreciated! :D

You have to be invited. If you apply without an invitation, your application will be refused.

If you are invited, you'll have a message in your MyCIC account within 24 hours of the draw (usually within a few hours).

Ah I haven't received a message! Why would this be? My application has gone through and been accepted so I'm a bit confused

You're confusing submitting your application for consideration with actually being selected/invited.

All you've done is submitted your application for consideration. If you're then selected/invited, you'll receive a message. If you have no message in your MyCIC account, then you weren't selected in this round of invitations.

I'd recommend you spend a bit more time reading through the program detailed on the CIC web site. Everything is explained there in detail.

Any chance you're from the UK?

That's too bad you are from the UK. You should be aware that there are far far more applicants than spaces available for the UK spots (there are only 5,000 places available). Don't assume you'll get an invitation. It's certainly possible you will - but also possible you won't due to the high level of interest from the UK. Make sure you have a "Plan B".

CIC hasn't announced how often the invitation rounds will happen. As mentioned before, you should spend more time on the CIC web site. This is where this information will be posted once available. I would dedicate time to familiarizing yourself with the program details so that you don't make any errors in the event you are invited.

I have been told this too, so I thought I would try and get in there as quick as I could. I submitted my profile on the first day of the opening hoping it'd give me a helping hand. I'm really trying my best to get all of this sorted as soon as possible but I suppose it's going to take as long as it takes.
