We received yesterday an email from CIC that they have finished processing our application and the Halifax office should be contacting us for an appointment. My husbands Visa expired on February 3rd. Should we apply for an extension?

I did renew my visitor visa, landed then canceled my renewal.

it would give him some time and he can stay as implied status in Canada.

p.s. I did not apply online (Paper app takes longer process) , so I can have enough time to land and cancel app.

Not that I am an expert but here are my thoughts;

1. You should maintain your husband's status valid in Canada to avoid any problems, so request extension. You can always cancel the extension if your file concludes.

2. Your application has been in process for more than 2 years and could therefore still time more time to conclude. I have NO idea how long the appointment process takes normally.

3. Unless you can communicate with the VO or Halifax office to get different advise in writing I would proceed as above.

...just my 2 cents...

Speedy Processing!
