For student visa (Canada) how many months bank statement should one show? Will provident fund balance and investments be counted when we show funds available?

Yes I think but the easiest way is to collect all your assets or take a bank loan and create a fixed deposit account and show that one document to avoid all hassle. This was suggested to me by a person who received the visa very quickly.
