I paid my 1st sem fees and GIC via Bank Wire Transfer. 125$ needed to pay for online application was paid by my father's credit card.

Well I have admit from a Canadian University in Montreal for 2 yr course MEngg.
1 year fee paid
GIC done
CAQ done
Medical done

Should I go ahead and apply for visa without consultant and save around 20k, till now I did all by myself. Help me guys I am confused.

If your all paperwork is ready and you think you have done it right than why do you want to use consultant? I would recommend you not to apply through consultant. It would be a waste of money if you do so.

There is no need of a consultant at all, you can do the online application by yourself.


Also both of you guys need to have a Credit Card with a Balance of 125CAD.

I got rejection for Jan 2014 for Dalhousie University Sad.. the reason of refusal:your proposed stdies r nt reasonable in light of 1 or more of: ur qualifications, previous stdies, employment , level of establishment, language abilities, or ur future propects and plans.
I got admission in dalhousie UNI for M.engg in internetworking. my profile is B.E (E&C) 58% (10 backlogs with repeatation) and an year gap during U.G means B.E completed in 5 years. IELTS- 6.5 (min 6 in each),also my final year project was on networking and I have also submitted a certificate from a private institute of N+, CCNA, MCSE where I have done training of these networking courses .. sufficient funds shown, but SOP was very poor... applied under university category.. now how to resolve this issue with this profile?? plz guide me, I am desparately looking for help on this as I want to re-apply soon for the same intake..

Guys i had applied online for my visa on 28th september. I received study permit mail today on mycic stating that my application has been approved. Finally can breathe a sigh of relief now. Thanks to all of you out there for your help and support ;D ;D ;D ;D

Does applying for fees of a semester or year in advance important for improving visa chances?

What is GIC and CAQ?

When should i get my medical done? Do i have to take it before applying for visa?

All i thought was to submit my edicational documents, offer letter and financial support prove.

what else should i add other than SOP?

1) You need to complete the IMM1294 and IMM5645 forms available on VFS Global website.
2) Yes paying your first sem or first year fees in advance is really important for improving your visa chances. Almost every member on this forum will recommend you to do that.
3) GIC stands for Guaranteed Investment Certificate that you need to purchase from SCOTIABANK. It is similar to the FD(Fixed Deposit) system in India. It's needed to convince the visa officer that you have the necessary funds to pay your living expenses in Canada for one year. Also, GIC is mandatory if you're applying under SPP. CAQ stands for Certificat d'acceptation du Quebec which is required if you're planning to study in a college or university located in the province of Quebec.
4) Yes you can take the medical exams beforehand in order to speed up your Visa Processing.
5) SOP is a must.

I believe you need to submit all the documents mentioned above.
