Visa approval of jan and offer letter of may : possible? - india

Have applied for student visa- january intake 2017.
Waiting for visa approval, but my course has alrdy started. Now if i get my visa approval, and i defer up my admission in may intake, is it possible to go to canada like that?
Will i have to file up for visa again for may intake or just have to submit another offer letter to embassy after i get visa approval for jan intake?

Dear Kartik, I have exactly same situation as yours.
My classes started on 5 Jan in Dalhousie Uni and I got my visa approval on 17 Jan. So I did defer my start date till May'17.
You can wipe away all your worries, because you can enter Canada for studies before expiry date written on your visa approval letter despite of starting date you have written in visa form. But remember one thing that if your study permit is expiring before your course ends, then DO EXTEND YOUR STUDY PERMIT before 90 daya of its expiry.

Iam totally confused
Example my course is of 2 years and my visa approval is of 1 year 11 month from 16 jan 217 but i attend classes from May.
Pls clear that concept to me bro.
Lastly what is appropriate time to travel canada for May intake.

Dear Jassi, you are not required to extend your study permit now. As your study permit may be expiring in Jan,2019. Then at that time, you can apply for study permit extension , if your course is going to be completed after your expiry, before expiry of your study permit ( advisable to do these before 90 daya of expiry).

It is also nearly same process as applying for study permit. You can find more details for study permit expiry on CIC website. I am providing you link for the same.

And about travelling to Canada for May intake,
you can travel to Canada once you have the approval letter, visa stamp on passport and accepetance letter from DLI for May intake. But you should keep in mind that you can start working officially before your course commence at you College or Univeristy. So I suggest you to go in first or second week of April. So you can adjust in completely new atmosphere and also find proper accomodation there.

Hi, I applied for May intake and filed my visa on 16th march. Its 19th and there is no update on the visa yet. I was wondering how it worked out for you, are you already there? I might have to defer to September intake. Please advise.
