visa applicationn related questions

Hi,
Another question please, i have gone through express profile questions, so if a person has been refused a visa for another country, does this affect while applying for canadian visa.. as for some other countries they normally ask a question "have you been refused a visa bla bla". Also one of the employer i worked in 2009 has shut the company as i tried to get the reference letter off them. The reference letter they gave me at that time didn't had all the information like salary etc. Is there anything i can do to show that experience?

Refusal for a visa for another country will not be an issue.
