Day 5 (working) / Day 6 (total): no answer.
Go get out and do something FUN! Play video games, watch a movie - stop driving yourself nuts! Remember you don't LOSE YOUR PLACE in line and they will NOT lose your app. New Delhi has it and they are VERY good.

Hey, ThunderSoul - sounds like you've sent in lots of communications! Now it's a matter of waiting for them to get back to you.

Did you send the case specific enquiry through the link at on this CIC website? If so, for other visa offices, you usually get an automatic acknowledgement e-mail/confirmation. You may want to check with others familiar with New Delhi to confirm that New Delhi sends out the e-mails too (or resend the case specific enquiry).

Unfortunately, there's not much else you can do but let the process play out. As canadiangirl78 said:

When I did the case specific enquiry to Mexico I did not get a confirmation email. I just got a message after pressing submit that my message was received and it would take up to 28 days to get a response.

Interesting. You didn't get an automated e-mail also indicating they received your message?

So, today I find out (officially) that our file has been sitting at the wrong VO for 3 1/2 months. Unofficially, I've known this the whole time, but CIC kept telling me that there must have been a reason for this and that I had no other choice but to wait for them to contact me. London, UK office was where they transferred it on July 23rd. My VO is Vienna and it says so on our application. Apparently, London office does not send AORs and one may not contact them until at least 6 months have passed since the transfer. I decided I did not want to wait any longer, so I e-mailed anyway stating that we did not belong to London. I also mentioned that there was a typo on my husband's address (one letter in the name of his town). Surprisingly, they replied right away saying that they had my file, that the address would be corrected and that our file would be under review within the next 2 months. Three weeks later (today), my husband receives an e-mail in which they say that they have determined Vienna should be our visa office. We cannot contact them for at least 8 weeks as that is how long they need to transfer the file to Vienna.

ThunderSoul, I feel for you and your wife. As if it is not hard enough to be away from your loved one, they make you suffer more and wait forever, needless to say that nobody takes responsibility for mishandled applications and I have read a lot of horrifying stories. I have not had time to check all of your posts, ThunderSoul, but I hope they have resolved your problems by now. I wish you the best of luck. :)

If anyone has any wise words or advice, besides what has already been written in this thread, please share them with me. Thank you and good luck.

Hey WYWH,

sorry to hear that, that's really hard, and I can not begin to imagine how frustrating it is to discover that after 3.5 months! I don't have much else to say, apart form good luck - and Vienna seems to be quite a fast office - and since you don't loose your place in the queue, probably you should hear from them very soon.
Best of luck,
Sweden

Thank you very much Sweden,

I have been reading the London VO posts for a while now, but have not participated in discussions. I always felt like I did not belong in that thread, yet CIC ignored my concerns, so all I did was wait. I saw that you finally got your app finalized. Congrats to you and welcome to Canada. I hope it is all smooth sailing for you and your spouse from now on. :)

I guess I should take my name off the London spreadsheet and put it back on the Vienna sheet. I am trying to keep calm, thank you for the kind words. I know my husband is not calm at all. We were planning to finally start a family and all of this is so frustrating, but we will have to find a way to get through it.

Thanks once again. :)

Hey,

I really hope that it gets sorted out soon, I can understand how the delay can be extra stressful - immigration as it is is stressful, so this is definitely no need to add an extra step. The "good news" is that you are not loosing your place in the queue, and Vienna seems to have been a fairly responsive VO, so I hope you get news from them soon. Here is the thread for people going through Vienna if you wish you join ( sorry to see you leave the London one, but I understand! :) ) http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/vienna-office-t74361.1305.html

there is a spreadsheet too, if you want to look at the timeline...https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjvSDmSjyQZ0dE5DZk9Ua2ViTDRGZXhrM0w3V2xtdVE#gid=0 in the thread it's Venecan that is in charge of it ( a friend of mine went through the Berlin (turned Vienna after that) so I followed it for them for a while...

Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that the 3,5 months that you waited in London are not lost and your application gets opened as soon as it gets to Vienna to make up for it!
Cheers,
Sweden

PS: thanks for the congratulations, very nice of you, especially in your situation!

Hey Sweden,

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I was following that thread earlier thinking that it was my office, but then when they said London, I kind of followed both threads to see what was happening and how the timelines moved. It seems that London is much quicker, Vienna got overwhelmed because a few other offices were closed down. The last couple of months, it does not seem to be moving much, only a few approvals, although, the spreadsheet is probably only a small percentage of the applications received, so we'll see what happens. The bad thing is that they need at least 8 weeks to transfer the file, so I cannot contact them before that (January 7th). Adding that to 112 days wasted in London ... facepalm!!! But we just have to live with it now. I will set up an appointment with my MP here at some point and keep bugging whoever I need to just to make it happen ASAP. My husband is unemployed and we thought he was going to travel soon, so that was not a big deal. Now it is. Anyway, not going to bore you with details. This is unfortunate, but it will get resolved eventually.

All the best to you and other applicants. :) Thanks for the time you took to respond, very kind of you.

Cheers,

M.

I commend you, WYWH, for your positive attitude in the midst of this horribly trying time. I hope that the transfer goes as fast as possible for you and that you can take some solace in the knowledge that you shouldn't need to go through the whole queue so you may be able to make up a bit of time.

I wish you the best of luck in the remainder of the process.

I appreciate that, OhCanadiana. :)

I could probably write a novel about the past several years and what all we have been through and nobody knows what else might get in the way, but no matter how hard, we must endure because it is worth it. It is a shame to see how little (or not at all) our Government really cares about its citizens and their hardships while they give big talks about improving immigration laws/policies and being family oriented. My only comfort is that some day (soon hopefully) all of this will be behind us. This forum helps keep us sane and I am grateful that we have it. Thank you for your kind words. :)
