Hi guys, so I received my ATIP notes yesterday and found something interesting on Page 22:

Event 2 (which matches my Test date and time)
- created date: 2020/01/14 19:04:55
- created by: C2575
- updated date: 2020/01/30 16:46:52
- EventID: EVNT263001945716
- Sub Type: Initial
- Status: Completed
- Start Date/Time: 2020/01/30 16:00:00

- Duration: 60
- End Date/Time: 2020/01/30 17:00:00
- Event Office: Scarborough Citizenship Operations
- Language: Bilingual
- Capacity: 100

Event 1
(is this my Oath date and time??)
- created date: 2020/03/26 12:00:03
- created by: CO25476
- updated date: 2020/04/03 14:54:17
- EventID: EVNT264583308113
- Sub Type: Other
- Status: In Progress
- Start Date/Time: 2021/01/01 09:00:00
- Duration: 20
- End Date/Time: 2021/01/01 09:20:00

- Event Office: Scarborough Citizenship Operations
- Language: English
- Capacity: 150

Knowledge: Passed
Residence: Passed
Language: Passed
Prohibition: Passed
Security: (blank)
Criminality: Passed
Final: Granted
Oath: In Progress
Office: Scarborough Citizenship Operations
Location: C6 Ceremony Ready

Questions:
1. Does that mean my virtual oath is scheduled for Jan 1, 2021?
2. Is that virtual or in-person? It’s only 20 mins so Im guessing virtual
3. Why is sub-type "Other" and for test it was initial?
4. Is it so late because I told the officer at interview that I'll be travelling from Feb 13-29th, 2020 and they pushed me back? :/

Thanks,
Zam

Looking at the above points, I think this is what could have happened. I wont be surprised if I am completely wrong knowing how complex the IRCC process can be to interpret.

Since the pandemic was declared in the 2nd week of March, on 26th March IRCC might have marked you as "ceremony ready" for a future date. If this is the case you should find more entries in your ATIP about what was that "future date" entered on 26th March in the system. Check for entries between 26th March and 3rd April to see if you get any more insights. If there are no entries between these dates then the system might be allowing users to keep the date field blank under some exceptional conditions (I am just assuming this. If empty future date is allowed without any condition then I have some serious questions about the system and process design. I digress, as it is a topic to be debated in a separate thread)

Then on 3rd April when the first case of virtual ceremony was declared, IRCC might have modified the previously marked candidates to be scheduled for the oath ceremony for the 1st of Jan 2021 assuming by then things might get better either to have larger gathering in person or by modifying the recently achieved workaround of imparting the oath virtually. At this point, majority of us were like headless chicken looking for ways to keep things moving. Duration of 20 minutes and capacity of 150 indicates that they were thinking it would be a virtual ceremony where larger group of people can be accommodated not knowing about the bottleneck/s of a solution that has not yet been tested and verified aggressively.

Finally coming to the "other" sub type and "in process" status, I believe this is how the officer/IRCC might be flagging ceremony ready people till they streamline the "newly dveloped process" to schedule the candidates. Once they have a certain "established" process, they will again modify the date based on whatever conditions the "established" process dictates.

Based on reports in this forum about larger groups being invited for virtual ceremonies, I would say your invite will come soon and the ceremony will be way earlier than Jan 01, 2021. Just giving the case officer and IRCC a benefit of doubt as I would like to believe there is a lack/none training in handling an exceptional situation like covid-19. So they are working to the best of their abilities taking into consideration everyone's well being and interests.

Stay safe and calm. The wait will get over soon. All the best.
