Hi,

I am Vietnamese national who has been admitted to the MSc program to Uni of Alberta. I'm applying for Study Permit from Singapore VAC. Here is my timeline:

- Submit online application: 5 May
- Biometrics letter: 6 May
- Biometrics appoinment: 13 May

My current application status:

Review of eligibility Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Review of medical results You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.
Review of additional documents We do not need additional documents.
Interview You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.
Final decision Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

I indicated that I would wait for them to request for Medical exam. How long will it take? Will they ask for medical exam after reviewing my Eligibility and Background check?

Also, it shows that they havent started Eligibility check at the moment, how long until they start doing it?

The estimated processing time for Singapore VAC is 6 weeks, does this start after my biometrics appointment (13 May) or after I submit my application (5 May) ?

Thanks

Hey, did you receive your medical request ?
Hi, yes, I received on 23 May. I went for the check up on 27 May then on 28 May, Fullerton told me that they have sent the results to CIC ( I think it's fast).

On 31 May, the status on CIC website shows "You have passed the medical exam"

hey .. Thanks for the reply @baryonix !
I am currently in the same situation.
I had applied my study permit together with my spouse’s OWP on 11 oct 2019
We did our biometrics on 15 oct 2019.
Until now still awaiting for Medical Request.I Heard people say that ,if I get the Medical Request , it is most likely to get approved. So we are just praying for it now and really nervous ...

Are you already in Canada now?
So glad that I found your thread.
I couldn’t find any forum mates applying study permit from singapore. Not many people from SG go study at Canada, I guess.

Would you mind sharing your full timeline and experiences ? what happens after the medical checkup and so forth ?
truly appreciate your information.

Hi, yes I am in Canada now. Here is my timeline:

Applied from Singapore VAC
5 May: Submitted online application
6 May: Biometrics request. Background check also started on this day.
13 May: Gave biometrics at Singapore VFS and updated online on the same day
23 May: Medical exam request. Eligibility check started on the same day
27 May: Done medical checkup.
28 May: Medical results sent from the Panel Doctor to Singapore VAC
31 May: Medical result updated to Passed
14 June: Received Correspondence Letter stating Biometrics validity. Received Original Passport requested letter.
17 June: Submitted my passport at Singapore VFS
21 June: Got my passport and Visa counterfoil back :)

What and where are you going to study? :D I think Singapore visa office acceptance rate is high. I found very few rejections from Singapore's office in this forum, and those are foreigners on work pass. For me, I was on employment pass with a respectable salary, so I think the visa officer does not worry about my financial status.

Hey, thanks for the updates. :)
I am going to Toronto , Centennial College, for Software Engineering Advanced Diploma course. (Jan 2020 intake)
Both me and my spouse working as IT professionals in Singapore with Employment pass as well. I have attached both my payslip and his together in my applications. That should convince the officer for our financial status. :D

I had given my bio metric on 15 oct. And this morning my eligibility check status just changed to "we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirement" . I am hoping to receive Medical Request soon. :D

I know 3 other friends of mine also applying from Singapore to go to 3 top Canadian Universities. They were all on EP, applied in 2017, and DID NOT even submit Statement of Purpose/Study Plan, and DID NOT have to undergo medical exam. But one of them was requested to submit a Police Certificate though. They all got their visas from 1 - 2 months max.

I know the waiting time is frustrating, I went through the same thing. One advice is try not to read too many posts on this forum :D because there are so many rejection posts here. Remember our cases would be different because we apply to different Visa office. Hope you and your spouse get your visas soon :)
