Not sure if anyone has visited the PAFSO website but they have regular updates on the strike situation. As of June 25th, their last update clearly states who is involved in the stike. Good news is Vienna is not mentioned whatsoever. Too bad that many others will be affected.

This is a snippet from the June 25th update regarding who is affected.

"As part of PAFSO’s on-going job action, select members have this week withdrawn their services at Canada’s missions in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Jakarta, Bangkok and Washington. In addition, visa and immigration officers have withdrawn their services at missions in Delhi, Chandigarh, Bogota, and Sao Paolo."

This is from the June 20th update:

"As of today, all eligible members are striking in the following locations: Manila, Beijing, Bangkok, Jakarta, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chongqing and Astana. Immigration officers are striking in Delhi, Chandigarh, London, Moscow and Mexico City. In Tokyo, economic officers are also on strike. Additional withdrawals of service are impacting dozens of divisions at CIC and DFAIT headquarters in Ottawa."

So Vienna is still operating with all manpower! phew...
it's too bad for most of the other missions and for the hundreds of applicants been affected. Lets hope we start getting any news from them soon!

Not a thing I am flying home in July and was kinda hoping to be able to come back as a landed immigrant in September... Are my expectations too high?

Regarding the foreign workers strike I read the websites too. But, the one thing that concerns me is that although they did not list Vienna in complete stoppage like the other offices abroad-ie Hong Kong or Tokyo. Can we be sure that Vienna is working at full capacity? Does anyone know?

I have never felt so helpless as I do now. My husband is from Serbia, and Vienna received our docs on September 27th. 2012. It is now July 2013 and we are still pending background checks. We sent translations and cert. copies of his military booklet in December, and are on the second medical exam as the first one expired. I understand no process can be taken care of in a perfect time frame.

Does anyone know how the background check process works? Is it worked on from Vienna?

I remebered when my husband was in backround checks they told me that will take 6 months to a year or more to have all this backrounds checks done, and also we send our military booklet to show that my husband was never in military , and also we redid our medical for the second time , after 3 weeks we redid our medical they asked for my husband passport

Katie did your husband been in military if yes that is why is this process longer

As for Vienna embassy they are not in strike , but i remebered last year most of the them was in summer vacations , and they were really slow. good luck everybody ,.

yes most of them they were on Vacations around the month of July and August , i hope guys that Vienna is not going to affect soon with the Strike , becuause i heard that more offices are going to be affeceted,

i heard yesterday when i went to do my mother on law Tourist Visa , they told me that maybe Vienna will go in Strike this is what they tokd me , i hope not from Citizenship and Immigrations office ,

Hello everyone in this forum Vienna my name is Muby I am new here I would like to share my story.

I applied for permanent residence in 30 Jan 2013, and file was transfer on 18feb to Vienna office, then later on in April they ask me for additional police character certificate and I provide it to them, until now no news but 2times I sent them an email and they do reply but I have some question if somebody can please answer me.

1. me and my wife we are living together here in Europe and she got admission for the second year in Alberta College of design (ACAD) and she will start study at ending of August and we would like to move there before her study time and we sent to Vienna office her admission letter. Did you think it will make our application faster?

2. Since when they email me that they need additional documents to continue my process I cannot see my status and I try it all the time it showing we cannot find your status those UCL that they giving is not anything can someone tell me how can I see my status since is already in process?

And at ending good news for people who going to Vienna office are not in strike my girl cousin applied for working visa last week and still they processing his visa.
