Vienna office - Temp.Worker Permit processing time

I have submitted my documents for Temp. Worker permit at the Application Centre Duesseldorf. I plan to work as a postdoctoral fellow in Canada. My documents were sent to Vienna Office. I have to move to Canada as soon as possible. I am wondering if anybody could comment on application processing times for such a case. Thank you!

Processing time has been the big issue with Vienna VO, since the closures of Berlin and Belgrade VOs. The only official info is found here:

Nobody knows, how accurate (and up to date) this is, though. I recommend reading through this thread, since there were a few people, who have applied for temporary residence / work visas.

I have one more question. I am a temporary resident in Germany. I have submitted application to Vienna VO at the last week of August. My temp. residence permit ends at the end of November 2013. This means that I must leave Germany before that data. So I have to obtain my passport back at least 2-3 weeks before the end of November. What can you advise on the subject? How can I retrieve my passport from the Embassy in case I need it?

Send them an e-mail well in advance (before your status in Germany expires), and explain the reason, as well as the urgency why you need your passport returned.

"Unbelievable" service by the Application Center Duesseldorf.
Two weeks before the passport was sent from Vienna Embassy to Duesseldorf (end of September). Only after 5 or 6 e-mails the Application Center Duesseldorf finally sent the passport by courier delivery last week. Today is Monday (almost middle of October) and passport is still not delivered. Moreover, I do not know neither which courier they used nor the tracking number. Nothing! Awful.
