Hey guys, I know there is a strike going on. My family hired a official immigration consultant from CIC and he said we would be applying thru the Visa Office instead of VAC/VFS that's on CIC website. I don't know about this because it might take longer? Anyone know? I need suggestions please. He might be wrong. Thanks very much.

My understanding is that the VFS is like a pre-screening agency who check that all required pages are in the application before sending the package to the visa office. This can add a day or two so that is probably why your consultant suggested couriering your application directly to the VO.

Atleast in India, VFS is faster and better - VO can take long time and with VFS u can track app

Gee, thanks eAcilo. Make me blush! And user828, I am glad you had a good experience. From what I know, I would courier directly to the VO in future.

I am speaking from VFS India Perspective, whereas if you mail the LVO - it can upto 1 month. With VFS, their own tracking system tells you when it left, when it reached and the day all is back - no surprises. If it werent for the strike, its 5 business days but direct to VO it's around 3 weeks+

agree with user828, never appplied directly, but with the VFS, in Bangladesh u get ur passport back in two or maximum three weeks. Even in the strike.

For "Manila" (as with the OP), we will be avoiding the VAC's and applying "online" when we submit ours in the very near future.
