APPLICATION FOR A STUDY PERMIT – GENERIC CHECKLIST

• Complete and place this checklist on top of your application.

• Consult VFS website for forms and instructions

• Any document not in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.

• Failure to submit all required documentation may result in the refusal of your application or delay processing.

• False statements or submission of fraudulent documents will result in immediate refusal.

• After submission of all required documents you may be required to attend an interview.

• A medical exam will be required for study program exceeding 6 months. Do not undergo a medical exam until advised by this office.

• Any preparations you make, such as paying administration or tuition fees, are done entirely at your own risk.

• Do not finalise travel plans unless you have received a visa from the Canadian High Commission to India in New Delhi, or the Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh.

• It is strongly recommended that you submit your application by 01 December for January entry and by 01 August for September entry.

this checklist says a lot of things which are not clear completely.

It's not mandatory to submit IT returns as long as you can show pay slips, proof of income , income

certificate.

but if an applicant takes a heavy loan like around 15-16 lakh Indian rupees then at least 1 year IT returns

are needed .

There are NRI's who have been out of INDIA for last 10-20 years for them IT returns are exempt.

But CIC may ask them IT returns of their current country of residence , again that depends from case to

case and sponsor to sponsor.

also they see the bank account whether it's newly been opened or old.

If that was the case, SPP candidates taking 80% loan would have been required to submit IT return. I don't believe IT returns are necessary if once shows study loan of 80% of above, whether in SPP or General candidate.

I know many people who got their visas without IT returns in SPP as well

I think it all comes down to the income etc and sometimes they may ask for it
