If you're landing in Ontario, I'd suggest you contact the University of Guelph to see if your credentials are equivalent. It is known as THE vet school in Ontario.
It really tough, you'll have to start with odd jobs like working at mcdonalds, KFC, security guard, dishwasher etc and once you have got this experience then you can slowly move up the ladder

I agree! Im an agriculturist from philippines major in animal science. I was sponsored by my employer 5yrs ago to work in a pig farm.my experience there is really tough! Its a very intense labor. I handled 12000 heads in a finishing barn with 5 buildings and we are only 4(if no one is sick)Just imagined that! And you will do everything from feeding, medication, cleaning, weighing, loading everything! Even fixing and welding! And if you think they are paying us big money?! No! 14/hr no overtime.you cannnot complain becuase agriculture industry here have no union.
The good part is i became an immigrant after 2yrs working there and i sponsored my wife after 6months of employment there shes a veterinarian.if you think that theres other job in our related field out there?after we became an immigrant No! If you will apply as an vet technician or assistant in a clinic you will need certificate which you need to go to school for 2 yrs and the pay is 16/hr.
Its really frustrating if you really put pride in your profession and then you will come here in canada they have different rules. It will break your soul but its only up to you on how eager and willing are you to survive you need to have a strong fighting spirit.i knew some they just went back home.
As of today i am now a janitor in a school earning 21/hr.its not the best job but our situation is far better when im working in a pig farm.as for my wife she just took a short coarse and now working as an instructor in where she finish her coarse shes earning 15/hr.
I hope my experience will help you if you still want to migrate here
