Hi all,
I brought and already sent to CHC, a work reference letter from my employers (Manager) without telling about my immigration intentions at all since I have been long long working in this same company and I am in a senior position. They gave me the letter stating some of my accomplishments and projects also which were done with other organizations in my country. Now I'm afraid if CHC inquires about my work experience might reveal to my employers who they are and tell about my immigration intentions which would put me in a very difficulut situation. I also don't want to ask CHC not to reveal anything since they might think I'm hiding something from them. What do I do? Plse do you have any suggestions? Would I go and tell my employers about my intentions and why I took this reference letter knowing that this would be very negative on me if I'm not accepted for immigration for example.
Thanks in advance for any comments and ideas.

I know it is a very tight situation you are in but if CIC will call your office then definitely your employer would come to know about your application. If you know your application is strong and you have very very fare chances that you will go through then you should tell your employer. See try and make them understand about the situation. But you know your employer better so you will be the best person to analyse the situation and take a call

You cannot have your cake and eat it too. If you are lucky then you just might.
For situations like this, you should have a Plan B. There is no way of knowing whether CIC will call your boss or not.

Thank you for your responses. It will be very hard if I talk to my employer about this issue yet I was wondering why would CIC tell my employer who is calling. I mean what's the logic behind it as long as they can get to what they need to know without revealing my intenetions and without telling who they are?

If they call your employer. What would be the first thing the caller would say. "I am speaking from CHC so n so". I need to verify the experience letter given by mr so n so, does he work at ur place.

Qorax? your opinion plse. I don't want to tell my employers. How can I manage the issue?
1. Firstly, it is not 'always' that CHC "will" call your employers. It's a 50-50 chance. If your docs r perfect, the chances are lower. There r many cases where No Calls were made to anyone, neither the employers nor the home of the individual.

2. Secondly, reference checks can be done in any scenario... even when u apply for a new job. The current employer may be approached to verify your credentials. And that's a fact of life, u should be prepared for it, as well as all employers 'understand' that. So, if the CHC calls, your employer should be gentleman enough to accept the situation. Moreover, u r applying for immigration -not applied for a job with a competitor, so where's the worry?

3. Until & unless u goof-up with your duties at the present employment, what difference it makes? The process of immigration has nothing to do with the course of your duty to the employer.

4. Finally, this is something u have to accept with a pinch of salt. A call from the CHC might come thru. Then, if the employer acts un-gentlemanly with u, explain that u mean 'no harm' to your company & that u r simply trying to immigrate to another country for the betterment of your family. Most employers will take it in the right spirits. I will always feel good if my subordinates proceed to make it better for themselves -nothing 'wrong' in that.

End Note: I fee u r unnecessarily getting tensed on the subject. Relax... & let the process to follow it own course. Might be all your fears/worries become unfounded.

All the best !
