Very Confusing Situation - Work Permit - LMIA? Please help

Hi everyone,

My friend wants to apply for express entry under CEC.

His current work permit (with an LMIA) is ending in 4 month and of course he has over than a year of work experience. Is this enough to apply?

If so, when filling in his profile, should he state that he has a permanent full time job offer without an LMIA (A new job offer he received recently from the same employer), and state that he is currently employed with a work permit with an LMIA? Or is it considered that he has an LMIA already for this job offer (3 years Same employer)? Or maybe he won't get the points because he doesn't have an LMIA for this job offer? Maybe he should consider revise the job offer issued to get the LMIA as a permanent full time job offer? or just date the new job offer earlier than this specific work permit began? Does he even need to state that he has a full time permanent job offer? If he has 600 points by just working over a year on an LMIA?

Should he apply for a temporary open work permit, after he will receive an ITA?

Also, when filling in work experience/history, he should state just the jobs that relevant and give him points and the rest to state at the general history?

Your friend's case is kinda similar to mine. I answered the following when I was filling out my EE profile.

Job offer? Yes
Supported by LMIA? No

Next questions will be about employment

Currently employed? Yes
Terms: Work permit with LMIA
Still employed with Employer on your work permit with LMIA? Yes


Your friend should ask employer for

Job Offer Letter - permanent, full time, non-seasonal
Letter of Employment
Employment Records

I got the 600 points.

*I don't think he will get the 600 points just by working over a year with LMIA. To get the 600 points you must have valid job offer (which can be on different cases). Try searching "valid job offer express entry"

As long as the work permit issued based on that LMIA didn't expire, it means he still has LMIA. And you said he has Job Offer. Then in this case, it should be
Job offer? Yes
Supported by LMIA? Yes

And he should get 600 points.
