I'm FSW2013 and hopefully will be landing in Vancouver early 2014. I'm already looking for housing options, so I'll make sure to share what learn with you here.

Your chances of getting a job quickly are far better than others due to your profession and choosing B.C as your final destination. Start applying while you are preparing for travel. Register yourself on linkedIn and get in touch with people related to your profession. I got my job the same way and that too before landing. Be optimistic and you will lend a job soon.

Where are you traveling from? For air fare add approx. $ 500 to $ 600 on top of your travel from your place to Ontario. I have given this as an example, since majority of immigrants choose Ontario as their point of landing.

In B.C, housing is not much different from Toronto or Mississauga. Here are some that you be interested to know:

1 bed room basement : ranging from $700 to $1,000 per month (landlord will ask you for 1/2 month rent as deposit + first month rent in advance before moving in)

1 bed room Apartment : ranging from $1,000 to $1,200 per month.

2 bed room Apartment : ranging from $1,250 to $ 1,400 per month.
