We received my husband's PPR e-mail on August 8th. It read that we had twenty (20) days to send or bring in his passport. So: August 28th.

Here is the e-mail:

We are pleased to inform you that the processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada has been completed.
You are required to submit your passport(s), photographs within the next twenty (20) days from the date of this letter. As the validity of your visa(s) has been already established and is limited to a fixed date, it CANNOT be extended under any circumstances. We therefore urge you to read and follow carefully the instructions below without delay

My husband's medical was completed in mid December 2011. I am wondering is the validity of his visa (the date he must enter by) the same as his medical.. (i.e. mid December)? But 20 days is so soon. So could it be sooner? Can anyone shed some light? I am wondering because do we need to buy his ticket soon?

We wrote and asked LA but they didn't reply. ???

Thanks!

hey!

Normally the expiry date is one year after the medicals, or the expiry of the passport, whichever comes first. So if your husband's passport is not expiring before december 2012, you should have until that date to land.
They might give you 20 days to send it, but maybe it will take them a few weeks before they issue the visa, send it to you etc, so they might stress the urgency of sending it so you are not left with only a few days before landing... but it might be wise to wait until you have the passport back before buying a ticket ( or buy one where you can change the date, in case!).

Congratulations on completing the process (almost!).
Best,
Sweden
