Validity of US Car Insurance in Canada

Hi Members,

My application for a temporary work permit got approved recently and I will be moving to Vancouver, British Columbia very soon. I have a question about the car insurance. Currently I have insurance with StateFarm and valid for next 6 months.

In this regard, my question is whether I can drive my car in Canada with a valid US car insurance if I plan to stay only for 3 months? Do I still have to purchase new insurance?
