Hello All!

I know that the PR card has a validity of 5 years.

My Question is regarding the validity (start date and expiry date )of PR Card

Do the 5 years start counting at the time you enter Canada for the first time as permanent resident? date of landing in canada??

OR

Do the 5 years period start counting since the time(date on which) visa to immigrate to Canada as permanent resident???

Kindly help!
Thank you very much for your answers

Best Regards
Madhura.

From the date of issue. Expiry date of card will be mentioned over it which is exactly 5 years from the date of issue.

I landed on 1st April 2011. Cards received on 24th May 2011. Card issuance date is 16th May 2011 and expiry is 15th May 2016

Hope above clears confusion

Hi, Your question is PR Card expiry. The expiry date is marked on your PR Card.

To other points:

YES to :
Do the 5 years start counting at the time you enter Canada for the first time as permanent resident? date of landing in canada??

NO to :

Do the 5 years period start counting since the time(date on which) visa to immigrate to Canada as permanent resident???

Please note that you will become only a PR when you land. Stamping the visa on your passport is to permit you to land in Canada as a PR. If you don't land before the expiry of the visa ( one year from medical date or expiry of your passport which comes first ) your visa get automatically cancelled.
