Validity of COPR

Hi Guys,

I have recently received my ITA and need to get my wife's and my medicals done soon. Because my wife is pregnant, her X Ray will be on hold till she delivers in mid September. I know that the validity of a COPR is 1 year or whenever your medicals expire, whichever is sooner. My question is, if all our tests get completed by May 2017 (except her X Ray) and submitted and then the final X Ray gets done in September, what will be the last date of validity of the medicals? May 2018 or September 2018?

Will it be from when CIC first receives our reports in May, or is it the last medical done which will be in September. I ask this because I wanted to know that if by chance I get my COPR in December or Jan 2018, how much time do I have until I need to land in Canada.

Your processing will start only once CIC receives your wife's X-ray. It will be on hold until then.

SO COPR's validity will be September 2018??

You will do the tests in May and your wife in September so the validity will be May 2018 when your medical expires. If you take into account the standard processing time from September, it will be March 2018. If you are in Canada, you can flagpole. If you are out, you will have 2 months to plan and complete your landing.

My suggestion is for everyone to do the medical just before submitting the eAPR
