Validating only my Visa not my Family , any problem !!

I live in Australia now , I am not very sure whether I will move to Canada permanently . But I have to validate my Canada PR by this September . I am thinking to validate only my visa and not my family. My idea is when I decide to move Canada , then I will move first after that I can bring my family on visit visa , when they are with me in Canada , I will re apply their PR.

Travelling from Australia to Canada is costing me $3000 , I believe the same amount I am going to spend to reply for my family PR but I will do it when it is really necessary

I welcome senior forum members to highlight if any issues involved on this .

If you are Principal applicant then there shouldn't be any problem. What you have planned seems OK.

Hi Thanks for the reply, One thing I am not sure , Is there any special requirement like I must have completed X many days in Canada before I sponsor my family members for PR ??

Among other requirements, one is to prove that you have enough income to support you family. You should check this page to learn more.

This is not a good idea really. I want to move to Canada now and have job offers in hand, but my wife visit visa has been rejected twice. I was told to reapply PR again!

I feel now I should have validated my wife visa back in 2010, I was not aware that getting visit visa will be next to impossible for PR dependents

Is there any way that I can make use of wife exiting PR at this stage?

So sorry about that but if i had seen ur post in 2010, i would have advised u against ur decision to validate ur pr visa alone. life has to go on now. Just re-apply for her pr asap.

No - it is impossible to make use of your wife's old PR visa. It has expired and is no longer valid. Your only choice is to apply to sponsor her as a PR from scratch. Assuming you are still a PR (rather than a citizen) keep in mind that you must be living in Canada in order to sponsor your wife and must continue living in Canada until her PR visa is approved. Occasional short trips (2-3 weeks) outside of Canada are fine. Anything longer and you risk having the file rejected due to non-residency.

Yes - it will likely still be difficult. Visit visas are for people who have strong ties to their home country and no plans to remain in Canada long term. However your wife has plans to move to Canada permanently.

I'm suggesting you that choose either Canada/Australia to settle.
