Hi everyone,
I would like to share something that happened to me last weekend. Maybe you can share your input, experience, and/or advice.
I validated my PR after landing at the Edmonton International airport last Sunday. Everything went very well and smoothly. No questions or additional documentation were asked.
I live in Edmonton so I provided my address. Now I have to wait for the PR card (so far so good).
What surprised me was that the Immigration officer ripped my work permit (valid until March) because my validated COPR should suffice.
Since I'm going on vacations abroad in 2 weeks, I mentioned to him my situation. I asked him what I was supposed to use to re-enter Canada. He told me that the piece of paper (validated COPR) is fine.... Now I'm wondering... really??? So what about the BOWP, or travel document, and so on, that we should use to re-enter Canada until we get the plastic PR card...I asked him twice, he answered the same thing.
I have an Italian passport so the only explanation that I find it's because I don't need a visa to enter...(?)
Anyways... any information you would like to share regarding this will be appreciated.
Thanks!
