Hi,

I am on a closed work permit with the employer's name mentioned on the work permit itself. I am in the process of preparing my documents to apply under CEC. One of the requirements to claim 50 points for a valid job offer is to get an employment letter stating the job offer will be valid for at least one year after the PR is granted. My employer is not going to provide this.

They have a standard format for such requirements which will just verify my current employment and state that my employment is full time. I may be able to convince them to state that the employment is valid until the work permit is valid (approx. 15 months left). Will such a letter work for claiming points under 'Valid Job offer'?

I am skeptical any employer in Canada will be willing to provide a future employment offer. This requirement is almost impossible to fulfill.

Maybe. It's your call.

If your closed work permit is an LMIA-approved TWP, then that would probably be enough. If you do not have the LMIA, then you need the letter; if you cannot get it, then you do not have a valid job offer.

You need this letter anyway as proof of work experience. The letter must state hours worked per week. If they are willing to state that your job is "permanent," then you may have a chance.

This is simply not true. Many people can and do get the letter, but it does require a supportive employer.

Thanks for your response. My WP was LMIA exempt, but It might be possible to get the word 'permanent' mentioned in the reference letter.
