Vacation out of Canada after week of applying BOWP

How about if I apply for BOWP and immediately (after a week) go on vacation for a month or two to US?

Will the BOWP be delivered to my address in canada and my friend can courier it to me in US?

I know there is condition stated in BOWP eligibility that "You have to be in canada" , but this I believe is at the time of application you have to be in CANADA , ie, person outside of Canada cannot apply. But this does not mean you cannot leave canada after applying.

Seniors, please correct, if i am wrong?

Well i have the same concern...waiting for answers.
But I am also wondering that if you drive from Canada to the US, there is even no record or stamp on your passport fom the Canadian Border, so they even don't know you are out of the country. Correct me if im wrong

it would better if you stays in canada untill BOWP issues from CIC.

I understand its better if i do not go out of Canada.

But if i am not able to avoid that - then is it I am not eligible for BOWP? and they will reject?

I am applying BOWP within Canada but going out after week of applying BOWP.

I don't think they will reject- you will get the document in the mail. Your friend should be able to send it to you.
Provided that you currently have valid documents to travel- you are free to travel. As I understand you have applied for BOWP cause your wp will expire soon- I am pretty sure US authority will ask you about your length of stay (unless that's your home country). Good luck on the border!
You won't lose your residency because you will be on vacation.

I don't see why you would be rejected...your current work visa is valid for as long as you are on vacation, correct? That's really all you need to travel.

Still, I've been through hell and back at the Canadian border with VALID visas before...maybe it's because I'm Middle Eastern...but if I were you, I'd definitely put a pin in my vacation plans.

The OB says that "the processing office will confirm that [...] the applicant is currently in Canada". I'm curious as to what they do to confirm this.

yes, i have valid US and Canadian Visa so travel/vacation is not a concern, but as OB states BOWP is for In canada applicants. does that mean at time of application or during BOWp processing time also?

I can think of a few scenarios:
1. check with CBSA who have all flight manifests and information on land border crossings. They may not stamp your passport, but make no mistake they have records. One member(Scylla) whose husband is American, never had his passport stamped but one time when he came to Canada, the border people pulled up a detailed record of all his entries/exits.
2. call your employer who will confirm you are on vacation
3. call your home telephone number
4. send the application to your local CIC office for further review or send the work permit there for you to pick-up.

When in doubt, stay in Canada and wait for your BOWP. A vacation can wait. But if you must, then be aware of the risks and be ready for potential consequences(if any).

Thanks a lot Senorita.

i dont undersatnd whether my passport is stamped or not, how does not makes a difference? I mean for BOWP i am not sending my passport to CIC!! So how will that impact if i fly or drive to US? Maybe I am missing something..

I have valid status to come back to canada with my existing WP, its just the matter that during processing of my BOWP - I will not be in Canada.

I know. It seems weird that an applicant usually resident in Canada could not even make vacation plans due to the uncertainty of when the BOWP will be processed (roughly 1-2 months). But the OB does say "currently in Canada" and not something like "has a valid status in Canada".

So, it seems it is not clear how they check whether the applicant is "currently in Canada" while they are making a decision on BOWP application. If there is no way of checking, then a person can apply for BOWP online from anywhere in the world and can get the BOWP mailed to any Canadian address (that is mentioned on the application), which in turn gets delivered to his/her non-Canadian address through his/her friend in Canada. Then he/she can travel back to Canada using that BOWP, of course along with a valid TRV.

Any thoughts ?

A month or two "vacation"? Who's your employer and can I work for them??? :)

If you are on unpaid leave, you are not on vacation and you are not working. This is the real problem.
