Hi Guys, I have just submitted my citizenship application and have not yet got my acknoledgement. If all goes fine I should get it in a month which is about Nov 16. The issue here is that I am going on vacation to another country for Christmas for about 3.5 weeks. Should I update CIC about this ? Or just leave it ? On the CIC website it clearly states that you should contact cic if you leave Canada for more than 2 weeks. But I dont see this written anywhere else. In all other places it just says you must contact CIC if you change your address or contact information. . So I am not sure what to do as I dont want to contact them simply and cause a roadblock for my application. Please advise Thanks.

The following can be found at this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-after.asp

  • change your address
  • are charged with a crime
  • plan to leave Canada for more than two weeks in a row

Yep...
Just wait and before leaving call cic and update.

Also make sure you keep an eye on E-Case, just in case you get interview/test date etc.

During interview we were asked if we had a trip outside Canada other than mentioned in our application, so you can update them.

Btw, a little off topic but.. does everyone get called for an interview? Is it right after the test?

Usually interview is at the same time after the test. They tell you your score as well. Ours was like that and I think that's how it is.

Purpose of interview is to check / verify original documents and to see if you are able to communicate in English. Off course each case will be different, some will be more scrutinized than others depending on circumstances.

Once your application gets accepted you get AOR email (if provided). That will have application number (you can use other things as well).

Go to cic website or Google check application status Canada citizenship and login with required details and you'll have your electronic case information.

How did you get the test and interview letter ? Was it by email or mail ?
