Hi all,

The below is what is specified at the USPS site for International change of address. Has anyone used the underlined option below and started receiving forwarded US mails at canadian address without any issues?

How do I File a COA for an International Address?

  • You cannot submit a Change of Address online from an international address.
  • If you are moving to an International address outside of the United States, you will need to fill out the same Change of Address (COA) form PS Form 3575 that is filed for a domestic move at your Local Post Office™.
  • If you forget to submit a COA prior to moving to an International address, you can write a letter to your old Post Office in the United States and the postal establishment now serving your new international address explaining the situation. Provide direction on how and where you need mail forwarded. The letter should also include as many details asked on the PS Form 3575 (Change of Address Form) as possible.

You can fill out a paper form for mail forwarding for USPS and forward it to your Canadian address. It worked for us. I found this option only on the paper form and not online. You can get the mail forwarding form at your local USPS.
OR
You can order Mail Forwarding online here with a Canadian credit card and valid email address. You can buy the service at a post office – save time by filling out the Mail Forwarding order form in advance. You will need to show government-issued photo ID like a driver's license, passport or citizenship card. click on liteblue

Yes, many people have used this option to forward mail from a U.S. address to a Canadian address without any issues. For usps you need to provide id verification, here is the list of services that offer it.
and here are some issues when receiving forwarded US mails at canadian address,
1. Customs and Duty Fees: Depending on the type of item being shipped, it may be subject to customs duties and taxes. These fees must be paid in order for your package to be released from customs.
2. Delivery Time: Delivery times for items shipped from the U.S. to Canada can vary depending on the method of shipping used.
3. Currency Exchange: All transactions must be completed in Canadian currency.
4. Additional Paperwork: Depending on the type of item being shipped, additional paperwork may be required. This could include a customs declaration form or a Certificate of Origin.
5. Address Verification: The address must be verified to ensure it is correct and can be delivered to.
6. Language Barriers: If the shipper is located in the U.S. and the recipient is in Canada, there may be language barriers that must be accounted for.
7. Shipping Restrictions: Certain items may be restricted from being shipped from the U.S. to Canada. Make sure to check the regulations before attempting to ship something.
