Hi,

I would like to know the chances of applying for the express entry with a Migration Consultant.

Will it be a plus point in terms of getting the PR or can we do it by our self's if it does not make a difference?

Thanks in advance for replying.

Thanks & Regards,

Makes no difference to the points.

The only difference is the agent will charge you to enter in the same information. Certainly do-able yourself.

If you case is not too complicated, try to apply by your own. You can research information here in Canada immigration forum. All seniors willing to give you all questions.

CIC does not give any preference for an application submitted by agent over an application submitted by you. In my personal opinion, you do not need a consultant/agent to help you, the whole process is quite straight forward and forums like these are very helpful. The collective knowledge and awareness of the members on this forum far exceeds that of the consultants. In fact, some of the consultants get their answers from forums like these. If I were you, I would instead use that money for my nomination and other migration related fees.

If you follow this forum, you will be in a position to do everything on your own. Most of your questions would already have been answered by many experienced people on this forum and still if you feel that there is a blocker, post your question here, I am sure, people will be more than willing to help you.

In the end the decision is yours, if you have the money and willing to hire an agent (and also if your case is a bit complicated and you need expert advise), you can go ahead and hire an agent. But after everything is done, you will feel, you paid them to you tell you things which are easily available on CIC, OINP sites, forums like these etc.

In case you choose to go with an agent, please ensure that you double check everything before it is submitted and always keep following up them and do your own research as well. There were instances where an applicant's Express Entry profile became ineligible due to expiry of IELTS and the applicant came to know only after the profile became ineligible. If the applicant was intimated about it in advance, the applicant could have taken IELTS before the profile could have become ineligible. There was another instance where an applicant got PT invite from Ontario, but the agent did not inform the applicant until one week from application submission deadline.

Migration consultants... you only need them if you have any difficulties with your case or you dont wanna spend any time on the process, in other cases you can do all by yourself.

Probably not valid.

ECA, IELTS, PCC(s), Passport(s), POF document(s), Spouse/common law partner document(s), Reference letter(s)... No immigration consultant will (or even can) do these on your behalf so you would have to invest time, effort and money on procuring these whether you hire a consultant or not. In that sense, the only time being saved is probably form filling, uploading documents and making payment. All of those would collectively add up to about 2-3 hours of work. If I may loosely look at the NOC classification for such work, this is typically NOC B or below work so probably not worth more than $50/hour. If the intention is purely to save 'time', one shouldn't be paying more than $150 to a consultant for doing this part of the job.

If the case is complicated, the consultant fee is probably justified based on your need to hire a consultant who probably knows more than you. But it is important to find such a consultant - a lot of unregulated and untrained consultants abound in the marketplace. Caveat emptor.

andy I request you to create one tracker which shows rejected application. How many of the 10 rejected applications are the ones filed by applicants and how many of those filed by consultants.
