Hi All,

Just a bit of a background, I am an Indian citizen who did his masters and then worked in the USA (along with my wife) between 2006-2015 and since then I've migrated back to India. Now I am currently creating an EE profile and I've a score of 459. I am highly optimistic that an ITA will come through in the next couple of months and I had read somewhere that the USA (FBI) Police Verification takes 11-12 weeks. In order for me not to miss the 60-day window once the ITA comes through, I was wondering if I could apply for the USA PCC before hand (just want to play it safe). So I read up on the link provided by CIC:

http : // www .fbi. gov/about-us/ cjis /criminal-history-summary-checks

And there, it says that I need to mail the fingerprints and the completed application form along with $18 as the fee. I guess I will need to create one for me and my wife.

My question to people who have done this before, are we supposed to take our own fingerprints? How do I transfer the fingerprint on the paper (use the stamp box ink?). Is that the only way to do the USA PCC or does the Indian Govt. provide a service that handles the police check with the FBI?

Please share your thoughts/comments. I'll be highly obliged. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

They do they have a specific form for taking finger prints. This form is available online and we need to take prints on that form only.
I came back from US in 2015 as well (was there for only one year) but I had my finger prints taken over there itself (at a police station) and mailed them to FBI just before leaving the country.
Maybe they do this service at US consulate but I am not sure.

Best Regards,
omsaiom

Please check the below site for FBI finger printing directly,
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/identity-history-summary-checks/submitting-an-identity-history-summary-request-to-the-fbi

1) Complete Applicant information form. Two form if you need to do it for family which can be downloaded from above site
2) Take finger prints from recognized center where they will fill in form FD-258.check below site,
http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-photoinfo.asp
3) Complete credit card pre-approval form for payment
4) Just contact details in a paper along with form.

Post all the above docs to FBI. They should respond in 14 to 16 weeks. It's better to give US or Canadian address for return mail because i have seen cases in forum where there is considerable delay to documents posted to India.

Thanks all. So, I'll create one application (signed by me and my wife) with two fingerprint forms (for me and wife) and send a pre-approval of payment to the FBI. Do I need to pay $18 or $36 is still unclear. I guess I'll send #36 just to be on the safer side.

I'm not an Indian citizen, nor am I living in India. I submitted my FBI application the end of October by DHL and the package arrived at FBI at the beginning of November.

Received ITA in the last draw (Nov 27th). I may or may not be able to receive the FBI report in time for the PR application submission.

It astounds me that FBI would take at least 11 weeks to process the application. It is just unbelievably inefficient in this day and age ...

I called the other day to check whether they received my application or not, but the auto message said that applicants need to wait at least 9 weeks for there to be any information about their application in the system. So shocking.

CIC gives additional time for delays in FBI reporting. you have to submit the receipt and proof that you have applied for FBI reports with letter of explanation during your ITA submission. Then once you get the FBI reports you can send it to CIC through CSE and CIC will attach the reports to your application ..

Congratulations "ybjianada". Thanks "mssm" for letting us know that CIC allows us to go ahead with the ITA application even while the PCC is under processing at FBI. I just hope there is no detrimental affect to our application for no fault of ours.

Hi,
I am an Indian citizen based in India. I was in the US from 2009-2010 for my Masters. Unfortunately, I did not get an SSN in that period. Now, I am requesting a PCC from FBI as I intend to create EE profile soon.
On the Applicant form, they ask for last four digits of the SSN which I obviously don't have. Should I print the form without those details and attach a letter saying I did not get the SSN during my stay in the US?

Hoping to get a positive answer :)

Btw, how are you intending to put your fingerprints on the paper? I used the Kamlin stamp box and it doesnt work at all (since its wet, the fingerprints get smudgy).

Thank you! And here is hoping that my fingerprints were alright ( I had them taken professionally at a police station). It would really suck for the 9 weeks to pass only to find that I have to do it all over again (I know, I should have submitted multiple copies ...).

if you have taken in police station or authorized centers the finger print should be good .. i have seen cases where folks have sent 2 applications at the same time separately with different set of finger prints if one doesnt work as the cost of FBI report is not that much .. In my case at the center they said my finger print has come good so its not necessary to take another one ..
