Fact Canada has the strongest Financial system in the world according to the IMF,The US is running #23.To quote Ronald Reagan",Its the Economy Stupid."So lets see Canada Mild Reccesion,Some jobs recovering in 2010,Cold Weather,US Economic Disaster Recovering 2012-2013.Warm weather.Many people cannot wait for the US to recover,they need to work in the meantime

Why not move to Canada,Get your Canadian citizenship in 3 years,then move back to the US and as a Canadian under NAFTA you can basically work almost anywhere in the US as long as you want.

Please don't give this sort advice. Do you want to see Canadians off to work in the US?

One of my friend said he will get his Canadian PR then live in Windsor,work in Detroit and commute on a daily basis.

FACT California has more unemployed people then the whole nation of Canada

California has more people than the whole nation of Canada. 36 mil vs. 33 mil. And I think illegals are not counted in the total of 36 millions.

I am just pointing out the fact, but I like Canada and I am moving there as long as I get my PR even if I get my US GC.

NAFTA does not allow anyone in any profession a VISA; it has to be (i think the latest list os of 63 occupations) in the list of occupations with shortage; also, there were some discussions on NAFTA being abolished by BO; if that ever happens I pray for all the hockey players in the land of the 'football played with hands'!

Total AINP processing time Up to five months

so i dont know where you guys are seeing this increase in processing times for the H1b stream...

You know now the AINP processing times is not 5 months , now its 8 months it may go to year also.

I landed in Canada successfully on Apr 4th. I had to return to the US to finish some stuff before taking a vacation and the experience was unforgettable. At the US border office I was quizzed (more like beat up)for about a half hour. The US officer in charge made a copy of my Canadian Landing paper and said that I can't have residency in 2 countries. He said that he was going to stop my residency process in the US, in spite of the fact that I have not even started the US green card process (Labor certification pending) and had applied for Canadian PR atleast a year before my employer applied for my labor cert (changed employers). I thought that he would refuse entry to the US, but luckily after a lot of pleading that I need to finish things up in US, he gave me entry.
So all of you guys/girls on 485 and AOS pending, beware, these are not good times to land in Canada with a PR. Heck, I've not even started my green card process, yet the guy gave me so much of angst and made the 1/2 hr a living hell for me. This is after I've lived 9 years in the US as a law abiding and tax paying person.

None of you will get it what happened and why happened? Historically it was a trend that people used to keep Canada landed immigrant status as a back up or used to give second priority in terms of Actual residence. Hundreds of Arab families got PR landed and again back to Dubai and Canadian governement was like an aXXhole who invited families but still they are living abroad and trying to maintain PR status by living just enough days so Canadian Passport is assured like living in canada exactly 3 out of 5 years or something. Now they want people who come live, work, pay tax, be part of Canadian system not as a backup. Though this doesn't apply here because it is for Canadian Citizens but they are trying to CHANGE everything and it is Obama infection. Here it is :

Apart from above explanation, to make it clear: The term "resident" and "Permamnent Resident" is different in meaning. Anybody on any visa J1, F1, H1, L1, A1, Q1, M1, O1, B1 US will considered as a "Legal resident" however PR visa or K1 stamped visa holders are the "permanent resident" of US

It's True that you are not legally supposed to have both US and Canadian P Residency however most immigration officers at the port of entry do not care. They mostly care about you entering the country legally.Many people have Landed in Canada and back without issues.I'm sure its just one of those immigration officers who just wants to attach a lot of importance to his/her job by getting into what happened on the other side of the border.
