US Visit

Greeting everyone. I have a question regarding US visit.

- I would like to visit my sister in US for Christmas. But I don't have TRV. I have a valid US visa till 2025, Canadian work permit till June 2017. Also I don't think I can apply and get a temporary resident visa before Christmas.

- Can I visit US and get back into Canada without a visa but a valid work permit?

I believe you can.
If you are re-entering Canada following solely a visit to US, AND you have a valid student permit at the time of returning, you are exempt from obtaining a TRV. It is under s.190(3)(f) of the Immigration and Refugee Pritection Regulation.

However, you are required to proof it is the trip only to US. So be prepared for that.

A valid work permit in your case is fine too.
Have a print out of the particular provision I pointed out with you just in case.
