Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and this is my first request.

I would like to know if it is possible to have US visa for Super Visa holders. My Parents are visiting from India next summer and I wish to take them to New York. They will be here for 2 years. I have never done this before so would like to know following:

1. Will they get US Visa (visitor) from Canada or do they have to apply from India?
2. If they can then where I need to apply for like any place/website to find procedure/details. Can I do this online?
3. How much it costs?
4. Has anyone experience with similar situation that they can share with me.
5. After their Super Visa ends do they need to return to India to come back again or can they visit US and come back. How easy it is to get that US Visa as their Super Visa would be valid at time of entry into US but would expire while returning back from US. So that they can have the Super Visa continued for another 2 years.

Its lots of questions but I guess someone would have faced a similar situation as my Parents are getting older and it is tough for them to be alone in India by themselves and I can't see their Sponsorship application getting cleared soon.

Thanks for any help !

1. It is recommended they apply from the home country where the can prove ties.
they will be on a temporary stay in Canada as such might be difficult but not impossible to prove ties but i would strongly recommend the apply before the come (based on my personal experience )
2. start by going to the us embassy website for your home country.all the information is there but you can do most of the stuff online for them but will require a person visit to the consulate for interview
3. check the website for the consulate
4. my in laws applied for their us visa right after their Canadian super visa. Most of the forms were filled online by me and they just went in for their interview. everything went well and got 5 years multiple each
5. theoretically, the issuance of the US visa is not dependent on their Canadian visa. It just helps their case as to why they want to visit the us (since we will be in Canada and its close bla bla bla). Ultimately they need to satisfy the US visa officer they will return to their home country(not Canada) after their visit. They don't necessarily after to return to their home country after the expiration of their permitted time to stay in Canada. They can go anywhere including the US but upon return to Canada, they need to satisfy the officer they will be leaving at the end of their stay. The border officer determines how long they can stay in Canada

Good luck !!!

good luck!!!

Thanks Twiggy,

I am going to follow your guidelines. Sounds like its pretty straight forward but I may trouble you if I get stuck somewhere.

Thanks again.
