Thanks sraj07.. did you BG check change to 'in progress'? What's your latest details? Once it changes, you'll probably get PPR anywhere between 2 days and 30 days... hopefully the soonest!

I applied for the PCC from CG in NY.
All the instruction are available here: http://www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=77

If you have any questions, let me know.

Hi Legalfalcon,

The New York Indian Embassy site shows as below.

Police Clearance Certificate: For Indian passports issued in NY US$25+3; For all others US$40+3

My passport was issued in India. So do I have to take a money order for 43$ in total or two money orders for 40$ and 3$ respectively.

Please suggest.

Thanks
Shashi

There is no need for two separate money orders. One with a total amount will suffice. I sent a bankers check with the total amount. Make sure you fill the form correctly and include a return prepaid envelope (I used a USPS prepaid priority envelope). The Indian Embassy is quick in processing your request, however, if there is any issues with the form they usually call, especially after the Modi government came in power. During he UPA regime, they would just return the paperwork without even stating why they have refused it.

But, its better to be safe than sorry.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask or you can PM me.

For many fields, there are indeed more opportunities, better pay, and less taxes.

Then again, you don't have to worry about losing your job and being unable to afford insurance, and you are way less likely to get shot by the police.

It depends on what you value.

100% In Agreement!!!

No update for me. Silence since Dec 10. Waiting for your good news as I can expect only after that. Good luck...
