Hello Folks,

I have some doubt from the FBI clearance which I obtained last year in 2014 to apply for PR but some how the application was returned due to some other reason. I am applying again this time with all the proper documents.
The question are:

Are FBI clearance valid for any specific time period?

I believe it's only valid for four months, but if you remained in Canada then it may be valid longer.

THEY CHARGED MY CARD!!!!!!! I called my credit card company to hear pending charges and when the lady read it outloud I yelled "YESSSS" and scared her haha. I was so worried it was lost in the mail. So happy. I still have a backup one though that just got there today hahah. Juuuust in case CIC loses it.

I sent mine mid-September but it must have gotten to CIC around Sept 23rd-24th.

That's good news for sure, since you now know that it wasn't lost in the mail.

Remember that the processing of payment is the first step, so it's still possible (albeit slight, hopefully) that the prints are not legible.

If all's well, you should receive your letter within the next couple of weeks. :)

If you have not returned to the U.S. to live, since the original FBI IHSR was issued, you should be fine. CIC changed/extended the validity of police clearances:

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

Dangit, I didn't even think about the legible prints! ??? I was so wrapped up with it getting there... :P

If after all this they don't send us the approval I will seriously lose it. Like if it's not legible etc.

Don't let it add to your angst. It would have been a good idea to send two fingerprint cards, just in case, but...most people don't.

You might call them back at the end of the week to hear if the prints have been successfully processed.

I'm definitely going to call Friday and see how its all going.

I'm not super worried, I resent another set of two prints last week for an extra FBI report copy and they looked exactly the same as the ones I submitted back in September.

What is the number? I might get my husband to ask about his..

Good news, mine was processed and mailed out yesterday! Final worry, making sure USPS delivers it okay and it doesn't get lost in customs..

They said the official date it was received was Sept 23rd.

Does anyone know how the FBI works the process deal? because from i keep hearing is that they get the package and then they open it and you will get the card with the fingerprints back within 2 weeks if UNREADABLE if not then they process it but I mean do they open the package and put it in a file and just wait for your turn or what ? I know this is a silly question but is this long wait because were doing a line or is it because they do investigations on us ?

How long do they really take to run the fingerprints and get results ?

The reason why I ask this is because it takes MONTHS for people to get the amount deducted from their bank accounts... and that my question ...

I dont know if that made any sense but if someone got it and has an IDEA or the answer please share your knowledge with me lol ;D

It sits in the mail room for like four months then they can actually get it processed from opening it in a day or two.

Okay, I see.... Gosh that makes me pretty upset.

Thank you for the answer.

I knew it was something simple I just couldnt get my mind to wrap around it.

Is it just me, or does it seem like they are getting even farther behind? In two days it will have been three months since they received my prints (October 16th, 2015) and they haven't even gotten around to the October applications yet. I'm not under a time crunch, so I was hoping to wait until I have my FBI check to do my medical and send in my application, but at this rate I'll probably have to send my application in without the check anyways.

So we just got our FBI. We don't have SA yet but we have AoR (and so a UCI # to reference). So we are going to both send a scanned version using their contact web form and then send the original via courier the office where our docs are presently sitting (Mississauga right now). If we had SA and then got the FBI we'd send it to whatever office they transferred our application.

What does SA stand for ?
