So we just got our FBI. We don't have SA yet but we have AoR (and so a UCI # to reference). So we are going to both send a scanned version using their contact web form and then send the original via courier the office where our docs are presently sitting (Mississauga right now). If we had SA and then got the FBI we'd send it to whatever office they transferred our application.

If CIC loses the original somehow, which has been known to happen, you'll have to start the FBI process all over again.

It might be worth considering sending the copy (via CSE), along with a letter stating that the original will be sent via courier as soon as you know which officer it needs to go to.

Tough call.

So brutal! It's 2015. You'd think they'd have gotten their stuff together by now. There really is no excuse for them losing stuff these days. What is "CSE"?

I sent another copy of 2 fingerprint cards and a request for clearance on Friday xpresspost and it still hasn't left Calgary on my tracking updates. I'm a little more confident that my FBI clearance did get there, I bet it just took forever to mail back in September. I definitely underestimated mailing time.

Probably, in two days I will hit 4 months since I sent it and they haven't even opened or begun doing mine. You'll probably get them early April. Unless they somehow hire more staff and get rid of the backlog. It really sucks right now, I feel ya.

Good grief !!
That puts such a huge gap within the processing time....

Anyway I guess I just have to keep on waiting.

Thanks

This is making me so nervous. The FBI received mine the first week of December. That means I will probably be waiting for another 3 months. If it doesn't arrive before CIC requests it has anyone considered using a channeler listed on the FBI site? I know they are not allowed but I wonder if you submit one of those reports along with a letter stating you sent it to the FBI 4 months prior if it may buy you any time. I have receipt of mailing them and tracking. I just worry since I did see another poster on this forum who had to start over for failing to submit FBI report.

Lol I was actually thinking of that too. There might be a chance they wouldn't notice but on another thread it said that they put in their requested notes that the FBI certificate was through a channeler and not allowed. I think you'd probably have a better chance asking CIC for an extension once its requested. I talked to that other poster and she said that she didn't make any effort to respond to CIC asking for an extension and her application was denied 9 months after the FBI certificate was requested. Hers was probably denied because she ignored it completely, I doubt that would happen to us.

Oh ok I missed that part. Crazy to ignore any requests from CIC!! It would be so much easier if their allowed channelers.

Thanks guys for keeping this topic updated.
I been watching this topic for last few months and sign up now to post another update. FBI received my letter on Sep 24 and today they charged my credit card.

Waiting on another Police Clearance from Ireland. Looks like my letter is lost.

For the inland application, are we supposed to mail the FBI check with our PR application, or will they request it? For some reason, I was under the impression that they will request it along with the medical exam when they want it, but now I'm questioning if this was correct.

Technically, yes you are but CIC will ask for it later...much later.

It will likely delay your overall processing time as well, but it's better than having to redo the medical I suppose.

Just include a note stating that these will be provided once CIC has requested them. The good news is that the FBI IHSR is now valid beyond 90 days, so there's no fear of having it expire before CIC receives it.

Thanks for your reply! I had an application for PR already, but my case was refused because I didn't submit my FBI check on time. I sent the background check anyway along with a letter asking for them to re-open my case but they wouldn't. The FBI check they have on file for me is from April 2015 and my medical is from April 2014. They're going to ask for both again, but at least they have something. I guess?

They really shouldn't ask for another FBI IHSR, unless you've returned to the U.S. since it was issued.

If you're still in the U.S., you will need another one.

The medical, unfortunately, will probably not be extended.

THEY CHARGED MY CARD!!!!!!! I called my credit card company to hear pending charges and when the lady read it outloud I yelled "YESSSS" and scared her haha. I was so worried it was lost in the mail. So happy. I still have a backup one though that just got there today hahah. Juuuust in case CIC loses it.

I sent mine mid-September but it must have gotten to CIC around Sept 23rd-24th.

Hello Folks,

I have some doubt from the FBI clearance which I obtained last year in 2014 to apply for PR but some how the application was returned due to some other reason. I am applying again this time with all the proper documents.
The question are:

Are FBI clearance valid for any specific time period?
