Ok, there's been a lot of discussion lately on this, with good reason: the FBI is running significantly behind. I thought I'd open this thread so that all of the updates for processing times could be contained within the same thread.

For those of you who have called the FBI's CJIS (which handles the requests) at 304-625-5590, they will typically advise you where they are in the queue of requests. If you do call and get this information, please update this thread. Hopefully, at the very least, we can save a few phone calls. Please note that the FBI ask that you do not call this number until it has been at least 8 weeks since you submitted your request.

As of just now, the person I spoke with indicated the FBI is currently processing requests from October 27, 2014.

The person I spoke with was able to tell me that my request was received November 4, 2014. He recommended I call back in another week and a half to two weeks time.

The person I spoke to a month ago told me the same.. they were currently doing October 27th applications. :o I mailed my Nov 10th. Patiently waiting..

Really? Well, that's certainly not encouraging. So, either they're not moving at all or they're not relaying accurate information.

I'm seriously considering submitting my application without the police clearance, as some others have done. Does anyone know how this affects your PR processing times? And, does the 3 month expiry on police clearances still apply if you submit your application without it?

I spoke with them on Tuesday and they told me they were opening November 18th which is the date I submitted mine and they told me to call back in a week . I'm confused as the different dates given

Well, according to the person you spoke with, mine should be just about done. :) Who knows what's really going on there? :p

I submitted mine at the end of September 2014 and still haven't got it back

You should call. We were Oct 22nd applicants and we learned the prints were rejected over the weekend. We still haven't received anything in the mail.

We did call a couple weeks ago. We were told that it either was already sent, or would be sent by Feb 6, 2015. Haven't got it yet though.

I spoke to the CJIS customer service representative this morning who was able to confirm that my request had been completed and should be in the mail tomorrow morning. Finally.

(I mailed my request on October 30, 2014)

Did you receive your report yet? If not, you may want to ask CJIS to look you up via your SSN. That was the only system it was noted about the rejected prints. BTW, we still haven't received a notice of rejection from CJIS and it's been almost 2 weeks since the prints were rejected.

i called them right now they said they r opening files of 21 nov and finalizing files of 30 oct

I called today as well and was told they were working on opening November 25th.

Hi all,

I just got off the phone with the FBI and the agent informed me that they are currently working on opening files received end of November/beginning of December. My fingerprints were received on Dec 3rd, but he could not find it in the system which means they still haven't started opening files on that date.

He also informed me that it takes 14-16 weeks from the time they open your file. Is this true? I thought it was 14-16 weeks from when they RECEIVED it? This is so demoralizing :(

You are right and whoever you talked to informed you is incorrect. I believe it takes 14-16 weeks to process your request after they receive the request (they will not open the request for months although they acknowledge they have received it.). In my case my request was received by FBI on October 27, 2014 and they didn't touch my request until a few weeks ago. I finally received the report last Thursday, February 17, 2015, so from the receipt of the request to the report in my hand, it took 113 days (about 16 weeks).

Thank you!!! I was honestly beginning to lose all hope. Fingers crossed, everyone receives their reports soon!
