US Police Certificate

Hello Everyone,

We have recently became eligible for citizenship. But have a question regarding US Police certificate. We were living in US before moving to Canada. We do have FBI certificate after we left US and started residing in Canada (that was 3.5 years ago). We live in a border city, so we visit US very often but have never lived more than a week's time. Do we still need to apply for a new police certificate?

Is US your country of origin?

Do all the trips to the US add up to 183 days?

BTW, FBI police certificate is quite fast now.

No, US is not our country of origin, but we lived in US on student visa for 3 years. We mostly have day trips, so CIC doesn't count them towards absence. The absent days won't go more than even 50 days. I know FBI certificate is quite fast now as they have started online processing and reporting. Is the online report permissible (As I read somewhere that it has to be the original and not photocopy)? Also, do we have to go to US police station to get fingerprinting done?
