Hi everyone!

I'm a US PR, and my husband just mailed our package last Friday for Family Class - Outland Sponsorship. I'm seeing that the timeline for US Citizens is around 6 months. I wonder if it's about the same for US permanent residents? Does anyone know someone who went through the same process as a PR, or currently going through the process?

Thanks!

The processing timelines are for the country,
it does not make difference if the person is permanent resident or citizen.
6 months processing time seems very low .... maybe its a bit more....
just be prepared to wait for a year.... good luck

Hi

Yes, not being American can make a difference in the timeline. For obvious reasons, Ottawa is able to obtain the necessary info and run the necessary checks on Americans quite easily. For non-Americans, the VO will need to communicate with your home country in order to complete the necessary checks and depending on the country, this can cause some delay in comparison to an American.

I suggest you post on the Ottawa thread and see if there are any other US PRs of your nationality going through the process.

Yep, canuck_in_uk is correct. The recent trend for Ottawa is to fast track US citizens. They have ~6 month timelines. US green card holders have the next best timelines for US applicants, I think ~10 months. Foreign workers and students are ~1 year+
