Hi guys,

I am on a post-grad work permit in Canada right now and expecting an ITA tomorrow with 481 points. I read that I'll need PCCs from all countries I've lived in for more than 6 months totally, so I'll need it from India (home country) and USA (visited 4-5 times, 2 months each, so over 6 months totally).

Now, I read that PCC from USA takes around 14 weeks to process? I only have 60 days from receipt of ITA to submit all my documents, so how would this work out??

On the CIC website all they say is "It is possible that the FBI will take longer than 60 days to process a request for a police certificate. If you require an FBI police certificate, you must apply immediately upon receipt of your Invitation to Apply. All police certificates must be originals. Photocopies will not be accepted."

They don't really say what happens if you don't receive the PCC in 60 days? So what happens?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Can I apply through FBI-channeler to speed this up if my father is a US citizen living there (but I'm only a visitor?)

No worry it would be fine,in my case i didn't submit my PCC from one country but i attached some proof like receipt that i applied for PCC and also if its delay than the embassy will provide you one letter which is very helpful,so attached that one too ,i did mine too and later CIC will send you message and they will give you 60 days to submit so you would have enough time.
Good Luck :p :p :p

Thanks for your reply. I didn't really understand what you mean by "later CIC will send you message and they will give you 60 days to submit"... do you mean after submitting e-APR, they will contact me after some time and give me ANOTHER 60 days to submit the PCC?

Also, do you know if I can travel to the US after submitting my e-APR? I need to visit my father in San Francisco, US next month for a month or two. I also cross the Windsor-Detroit border once or twice every week to visit Motorcity Casino in Detroit, Michigan as I live on the Canadian border. Will I be able to do this after submitting e-APR?

Yes after submitting e-APR,my friend received message from cic requesting PCC from Kuwait and they gave him 60 days to submit and he went back to home country for vacation during his PR processing time.

Oh okay, that's great. How long after e-APR submission did he receive the PCC request?

By the way, visiting Kuwait is different than visiting US during the processing, because I'm thinking they might need updated PCC from US if I visit there during processing, which would be a hassle.

So I'm assuming he didn't submit his e-APR immediately after receiving ITA right? Because then he would only have 25+60= 85 days (12 weeks) to get his PCC.

Yes but he applied his PCC before he received ITA,just one week before,if you want to visit US than you could apply by yourself that might takes less time.my brother applied for my PCC from Dubai,it took 3 days but if we apply from here it takes a month.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the processing time 14 weeks? How did your brother get the PCC in 3 days?

I'm confused. Your brother in Dubai applied for the FBI PCC (U.S.) for the Canadian Express Entry program at the U.S. consulate in Dubai and got the FBI PCC in 3 days?

You would need to submit a letter of explanation (LOE) saying that it would take around 14 weeks to get your PCC (which CIC knows, mostly).
Once you submit that letter, they ask you for it in the last phase of your application, Check my timelines showing they asked me just when I was asked to pay RPRF.

(Also, I think it depends on the VO, he can accept your letter or reject the file), its risky, but you don't have option at that stage!:)

Good luck!

Well, the story is much different for PCC from US and PCC from Dubai, right?

No, you cannot apply through the channeler as you are not a resident or citizen of the US.
