there was some interest in a WhatsApp group for those of you who are able to join/ want to join if the forums aren't always as direct. Hope this okay to post here. Anyone is welcome to join. I understand how stressful this can be and needing an answer right away.

This is not the answer you want to hear but unless the PA is a green card holder or American citizen, they will choose the visa office base on his/her nationality not current place of residence.
Not true. VO can be Ottawa if the principal applicant is lawfully admitted in the US for up to a year. My partner is currently living in the US on a work visa and our application is being processed in Ottawa instead of Mexico.

Anyone successful getting passport photos done at Walgreens or CVS with the proper specifications (2 inches wide X 2- 3/4 inches long)?

We sent in our FBI police certificate application with the money order and finger prints in mid-April. Anybody know how much longer will it take?

Edit: We didn't use a channeler. We mailed it directly to the FBI.

Any reason you didn't use a channeler ?

I'm not a US citizen or a PR. I read that you could only use a channeler if you were one of the two.

Makes sense. I should've asked if you were a citizen or pr

Thanks a lot for your response awahidi. It was really helpful. I guess I'll be receiving mine within the next month then. By the way, how do you know that they processed yours last tuesday. Is there a way you can check the status of your application?

Hi everyone,

I am a little worried about our application because it seems to be going very slowly.

I am sponsoring my boyfriend (common-law) who lives in the US. Our application was submitted on February 13, AOR1 received on February 28 and SA granted on March 3. Schedule A and police report were submitted on March 27 through Webform. We have not received any update since. The applicant status in ECAS still says "We have received your application" (only 1 line). We have not received a medical request either.

We called CIC last Thursday and they said that our file had not been transferred to a visa office yet (still in Mississauga), but she said everything seemed to be in order. She couldn't give a reason to why it had not been transferred yet and said it was normal that it was that long.

However, looking a messages from a lot of you, I feel that the process is usually quicker than that (with most having their entire application processed in less than 6 months). It has already been 4 months for us and it seems like we are stuck.

Has anyone been in that situation? Any advice?

Thanks

Some folks here on the forum have called and Mississauga is just really, really busy at the moment. We sent our application in the end of December and the process moved pretty slowly for us. We didn't get sponsor approval until March. Currently, I'm seeing people get their passport requests within a few days of final decision. It's been nine days now for us and we're still waiting. That's just the way it goes sometimes. This whole process has been an excellent lesson in patience. Not everyone is going to have the same timeline.

We have a similar timeline actually
Im Outland US and we got SA march third as well. Our application was received FEB 6. And AOR1 FEB 23. We have medicals done though since we submitted it ahead of time.
I've called and have been told the exact same thing only that the issue is that there is a back log. I've been worried too, but it sounds like the exact same scenario.
I've seen American s get processed in 4-6 months. But we're on the fourth month now with nothing new :( the man on the phone said its on its way to Ottawa though.. just back logged.
