Hello iiiEllie and Aquakitting,

Are you talking about sending new photos, after you landed? Have you been in contact with the office that processes the PR cards? (Or are you talking about something else)

We have our landing interview in Calgary next week. We are not sure how our PR card processing will go since we sent in the old photo's (requirements) with the application last fall. We got new photos done last week in case the officer will send them in at landing... we really want to avoid any delays with the issuing of the PR card for travel and work reasons. Apparently Alberta Education will only look at a PR Card and not CoPR as proof of Permanent Residency... which really delays things for my wife in starting to work...

No my husbands landing appointment was for the 31st, it's been cancelled because his COPR has not been sent even though we have had DM over a month. They apparently still are waiting for new photos, that were delivered and signed for back in February before we got DM. As long as you bring photos with you I would assume you are fine.

yes you can pay the fees at any time, and they can be paid separately. you just need to make sure all receipts are in your package.
yes, in my experience it definitely helped. i always carried a copy of my application before and after it was submitted. one look at the thick envelop and they knew i was serious. they never actually went through the papers. (though i did take them out once, and the receipt was on top, so they would have seen that)

yes for the return ticket, though it will depend on the officer and how he feels about your husband's answers to other questions since tickets can be cancelled. if he sticks to a story saying i'm visiting my wife until xx date, here is my return ticket, then more than likely that will not cause any concern. keep in mind a) make sure the ticket isn't for too far out and it looks like a legitimate amount of time a person would come to visit. and b)they have the ability to limit his stay until that date. if they do that, he will have to apply to extend his stay as a visitor.

not really for the investments - in my experience, they ONLY cared about living and working situations. they didn't care about bank accounts or posessions because a) a person can leave that behind and go anywhere, and b)you can still access the money when you get into canada. also, plenty of foreign living people have us investments, so that doesn't necessarily prove a "tie" to the us.

Just want to say thank you for this advice. My husband came across the border today at Pearson. They sent him to secondary screening after they saw that he left on Thursday and was returning today (Monday) and that his work permit expired Sunday (Mar 27). At secondary screening once he said that we were recently married, waiting on the marriage certificate, that he wasn't working, leaving in a month and he showed our thick folder of application documents, they didn't ask to see anything and let him right in! They didn't even stamp his passport, which I take to mean he can stay as a visitor for 6 months like anyone else.

1. SPONSOR expectation during the first step:

a. AOR1 or Application package will be sent back for lack of important document
b. request for missing document or updated document - based on your spousal application
c. Medical, CIC payment, required application forms and Police report check
d. SA = Sponsor Approval email or letter

2. SPONSORED APPLICANT expectation during the second step:

e. AOR2 - from Visa Office
f. missing or updated document request - based on case to case
g. eligibility and criminality check
h. Interview - based on case to case
i. passport request for visa

ottawa does not send AOR2, so you will not receive notification about it being received at the visa office.

Thanks so much iiiEllie and Aquakitty! I had just about given up hope. Not sure if talking to the MP helped, we spoke with her yesterday morning and she was going to check on status for us, we haven't heard back yet from her but this morning I woke up to DM. I think I gave the hubby a heart attack when I woke him up screaming, LOL! I was so used to seeing In Process since October I had to take a double look. Thanks for all the hope and encouragement along the way!

Yes, we were going to go to Buffalo to see some friends yesterday but decided not to drive in the cold and flurries. I love the falls, that would be fun landing/celebrate day!
When I get to land I'm gonna cross and maybe get some groceries in MI that I can't get here, super exciting huh? ;D

Hi everyone! My husband just received SA this afternoon and my portion has now been forwarded to Ottawa. I was wondering the general timeline I could expect as a US outland applicant? Of course, assuming there are no delays, etc.
