Has anybody here gotten a DM cause I was just at the April 2015 thread and somebody has gotten their PR approved already? They passed application 2 days before me and they got results in faster than me. I am so disappointed right now! :'( >:( >:(

I'm a January 2015 applicant and there's a lot of people who had been approved before us who applied after us. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem matter when you applied. We don't know their circumstances of why people have been approved to quickly, doesn't mean we're not all jealous though. Haha.

Hello all! My eCAS changed yesterday and I got DM!
Here's my timeline:
Applied: February 10th 2015
AOR: April 3rd
SA: April 15th
RPRF/Intent to live in Canada email: July 30th
IP: September 21st

Meds and FBI all done upfront

Hi all - I'm new here and to this process. I'm a Canadian living w my husband in the US. We finally received FBI fingerprints so I'm trying to gather the rest of the info for the application. This forum has been so helpful!

I accessed the spreadsheet but I do not see anyone list the New York office as their VO. Anyone send their application through them? According to CIC processing time is 39 months is this for the total process or just for the landing piece?

TIA!

The Buffalo office doesn't process family class applications anymore - I'm not even sure why they list it at this point. U.S. applicants are processed in Ottawa unless there's a very serious concern about the relationship or criminality involved; those cases go to Los Angeles. Ottawa is typically taking 8-10 months for processing.

Yeah, several people from March were approved very quickly and have already landed, while others of us are still waiting. It's all luck of the draw and which piles they pick up and when they do it.

I see your visa office says ottawa. Im a little confused on which visa office our application would go to since we are living in the US. Can we submitt to an ontario office?

Congratulations! It's interesting that you got the generic RPRF email so much earlier than IP in ECAS. That's not so much the case these days as the two seem to follow closely together now. Your timeline might be very informative of the way the process really works these days, with 2 1/2 months between the email and DM.

Everyone, regardless of where you are from, submits everything to Mississauga. Then once sponsorship is approved, they assign the application for permanent residence to the appropriate visa office. Currently for U.S. citizens, that's Ottawa.

Sent complete application by courier and tracking shows received yesterday. now how do we know what is happening from now on? Do they mail or email a ecas number ? Spouse wants to know if he has to check postal mail daily or just email. He did provide email info.
Application was complete including upfront med and fbi.

Got the COPR today, The DM was published on October 6th.

Hopefully most of you will received soon!!!

question: Can I do the "Landing" on Monday, then come back to US a week later to close some business here and start packing? some told me that as soon I do the landing, I need to stay until the PR card arrive..

Congrats!

Because you have a visa-exempt passport, you can land and then go back to the US to take care of business and then come back to Canada without your PR card.

You'll receive an email notification known as AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) roughly 1 month or so from the date the CIC received your application. Included in that email is a UCI number and your application number. Either of those items of information can be used to log in to ECAS to check the status of your application through out the process.

You can use your receipt number (IMM5401) to login to ECAS as well to check the status of the application, even prior to AOR (as I understand it). I'm not sure how soon after an application arrives in Mississauga that the information can be accessed via ECAS. Someone else might know the answer. I personally didn't know that was a possibility until someone pointed it out to me much later.

I would tell your husband to look for an AOR email no sooner than 3 weeks from now. The average times for AOR, like I said, are roughly a month give or take a few days beyond that. After that, you'll get Sponsorship Approval (SA) approximately in another month after that, and then your application will be sent to Ottawa to await processing for PR.

From there, it'll likely be several months before an application is looked at to begin assessments for PR. The time period between SA and PR is the killer! Thankfully, this forum helps with the commiseration. You can check out the spreadsheet in my signature below to see timelines and add your own. Definitely find and post in the October Outland Applicants, too, to find those with similar timelines. Again, the cameraderie is really nice to have throughout.

Congrats on submitting your app! I hope this helps!

Your comment actually made me realize: I have no idea what the procedure is when I leave Canada (after having PR) and then re-enter. Do we simply use passports as documentation as always, or do we have a specific procedure (i.e. different line) we're expected to follow?

I worked in Japan, and when I'd come back into the country, I showed my residence card and visa in a specific line in customs. I realize I don't know how Canada handles PR coming back into the country, and it might be helpful to know before I inevitably do it wrong. :P

Hey guys, my application says “IN PROCESS” and they added the line medical results have been received... what does this mean? :-\ :-\ :-\

We received your application for permanent residence on April 7, 2015.
We started processing your application on May 20, 2015.
Medical results have been received.
